So I just got a few text messages from some friends. It looks like the GT500 will have 720 HP and 650 TQ.

And it'll weigh 4225 pounds.

I doubt it'll have any work for the Demon or Redeye but it might be a good match for the new standard Hellcat.

And it should beat the ZL1 in the quarter mile. I say maybe an 11 flat bone stock. Around a track tho, I'm not sure.

Make that 4225 pounds ... it will beat the ZL1 six speed in the 1/4 forsure, not sure about the auto....

Yeah, they are possible, but I’m not holding weight to them yet.

If it's legit, I don't see it ever touching the ZL1 1LE on a track...and I still think it will struggle with the regular ZL1...

4200+ lbs, why? The 2013 was 3800-3900 lbs.

Yes, but the GT powered car was roughly 250-300lbs lighter in 2013. The current GT weighs in at 3733 (auto) and the Bullitt car weighs amazingly almost 3900lbs.

It makes sense that adding a blower, more goodies, etc...would push it north of these weights....but yeah, that 4200lbs is crazy stupid...

2013 had no IRS as well. The Ford fans nearly lost their mind when the S550 gained weight and the 6th gen lost weight (exactly as those with any knowledge predicted).

2019 Mustang GT PP2 is 3860lbs on the scale with fluids. The GT500 will be at least 4000, but I doubt 4200+ but I may be proven wrong. Can't add a S/C, intercooler, suspension, drivetrain etc with warranty for that kind of power without adding weight - no different than a ZL1 vs SS.

While some of that could be true, some of it seems fishy. I mean petrol is spelled wrong in that document patrol. Also I know you have to wind up the coyote family of engines, but not making peak power even in a supercharged application until 7500 RPM? The 13 GT500 made peak power at like 6200.

Also, the other thing that looks odd is making peak power at max engine speed?

So while it could very well be true there are some things in that document that make me go hmmm

Well it has 70 more HP than the ZL1, the same TQ, and it isn't that far off in weight. So if these specs are correct, I fully expect it to beat the standard ZL1 A10 in the quarter mile. And if there is an R version, then I think it'll have something for the ZLE. At the very least it will keep up. All they need to do is get the price t0 around $70K ish and make it come standard with every option in the book. I would consider that a home run. Remember, the HC weighs more than 4200 pounds, has 707 HO/650TQ, and it pulls ahead of the ZL1 and has a higher top speed. The GT500 if it comes in at 4200 pounds will still be lighter than a Hellcat. So it should be a beast. Also, that weight needs to be due to a subwoofer, heated/cooled seats, etc. If it just weighs that much for no reason then something is wrong.

It's a sad day when a Mustang weighs 250lbs less than my Mom's 1971 Buick Elecktra 225. That car was 95% cast iron and steel and 19ft long.

It's like the S550 is a a stepping stone to Ford's version of the Alpha or basically a platform of equal capability. It just seems like a very lateral move from one Gen to the other.
