How do I determine my trim level/package?
Good morning, everyone. I apologize in advance for the "noobie" type question, but I bought my Camaro secondhand and didn't get a ton of information on it. What I know is that I have a 2016 Camaro 1SS, but I'm not sure of the actual trim level.
The particular reason I'm hoping to find out is I'm in the middle of upgrading my sound by adding a 3rd party amplifier and subwoofers, but I'm connecting to my rear speakers and they don't seem to be getting a signal (no sound/vibrations coming from either side. As a result, no sound to the 3rd part amplifier and subs. To test, I connected the amp and subs to a separate car and they worked properly. My original thought on the suspect issue was the OEM amplifier having a bad channel or similar. But, in reading on these forums, I'm seeing the 1LE trim does not have an OEM amplifier. Before I go buying a replacement, I'd love to know if I have one at all without tearing apart my car again. So, easiest way to tell? Any tell-tales signs that differentiate? Thanks in advance! |

trim level is 1SS.should be a cloth interior,no backup camera and probably a few other details im not sure of.i believe theres a listing under the trunk floor where the spare tire is that will list what equipment you have on your car,but cant help with the radio question.

"***UPDATE 1/21/19*** There is no external amplifier in the 1SS 1LE. It has a chip amp integrated into the HMI which is located under the glovebox. You can see the location at 6m24s in this video (although the Camaro in video is not a 1SS 1LE, all 6th gens have HMI mounted in the same location):" |

Pictures of the outside and inside would help a lot. You already know the actual TRIM level (which is 1SS of course). After that, it's literally just random options attached to it.
You'd know if it's got the 1LE - it'd have giant freaking brakes, wheels, and tires. Nevermind all of the matte black accents on the outside.

How do I know? Because GM cheaped out on my 2019 3500 dually, and didnt include tire pressure sensors...because it just barely broke 10K lbs GVWR. The 3500 single rear wheel is below 10K lbs GVWR, and got TPMS

Below are some pics of my exterior. Note, the black rims are the standard 20s that came on the vehicle, just powder-coated. Based off what you've said, I'm assuming I have the non-1LE which in turn should mean I do have an amplifier based on what I've read here. |

For the 6th gen, backup cameras are on every car, no matter the configuration.
1SS - Cloth seats 2SS - Leather seats, Dual Climate Control Anything else is packages I believe, if you have Bose speakers then you have the Bose Amp in the back under the trunk. Otherwise, you have no additional amp with the stock speakers. I have read that the stock speakers are easier to change out and the Bose Amp is more difficult to change out.

Can probably list what packages it has with interior pics, or if you take a picture of the RPO code sticker in the trunk under the floor mat then that lists every option the car has

Nice color.
Looks like a standard 1SS build - the silver wheels (originally, I assume you painted them) are a good sign it doesn't have a bunch tacked onto it.
