Any one else having 2017 SS EFM V4/V8 issues with A8 and MPP ?

Oh man.. I am having serious issues. Car sounds like it's about to fall apart when going from V4 to V8. It is SO LOUD.

Anyone else having this issue with their 2017 SS automatic 8 speed with MPP exhaust ?

Thanks.

Take it to the dealer. I have no such issue with my 2016 SS A8 with dual mode exhaust.

The dealership has already replaced the belt tensioner, per a TSB. But it didn't resolve the issue.

Is it the exhaust or the engine?

I think it's the engine....But only happens when going from V4 to V8. When switching out of AFM, it puts a load on the engine because the RPM gauge moves 500-1000 RPM's during the AFM shift.

Once in full V8 mode the RPM gauge goes back to normal and the car runs great ! No issues... Until it goes back in to V4 mode cruising down the highway.

Thanks.

You need to take that back to the dealer. No belt or anything is going to fix that. That's an internal engine issue. Make them test drive it with you. If they say it's normal, take another car on the lot for a test drive.

They have been looking at it... But since there is no engine code being thrown, they are having a hard time nailing down the issue.

They are replacing the AFM exhaust actuator today. Not sure if that will help or not either... But they are willing to try it.

Here are some other posts with similar issues. However no one has found the issue:

Good luck man! Hopefully they find it. Mine works smooth as butter.

AFM operation should be undetectable. Sorry you are having this difficult to diagnose problem.

I totally agree. It should be unnoticeable. But not mine.

Thanks I hope it works out soon too.

My '17 A8 npp 2SS pretty regularly makes a noticeable sound when in V4 mode- I have always thought that it was because of very low rpm, or a change in intake vacuum. It sounds like it excites the sound tube, as the noise is definitely intake- sounds like it's piped into the car... Is that anything like what you hear?
I thought it was odd when I found out about the sound tube- only notice it in V4 mode.
