So the car is in the shop.....
Didn't even have it a month. I tried to start the car in the morning and it tried to turn over and stopped. I waited a few seconds and tried again. Took about 4 seconds but it turned on. The check engine light came on. I drove it less than a mile to get my kid to school and it never shifted the whole time. The day I had time to get it to the dealer I noticed that the check engine light is still on and it is now shifting.
It had 2 codes: U0100 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit P0700 - Trasmission Control System (MIL Request) Still has factory warranty. Will update on the fix when I get it back. |

U codes in general signify loss of communication with various modules http://www.troublecodes.net/ucodes/ P codes are powertrain, but P0700 is a non-specific transmission code and means you need to hook up a tool that can communicate with the transmission. On a car that is one month old I would guess this all means some connector has unseated with a resultant loss of communication. |

Got a call back from the dealership. They are going to replace the torque converter. Will see if that fixes the issue.

If I was going to "throw parts" at this problem, I would replace TCM, not torque converter. Torque converter is not electronically connected to anything. Problems in the converter can throw codes, but a "loss of communication" code is not typical, nor does it make sense. |

So they ending up doing a flush on the torque converter instead. I kept pressing about the other issue. They were finally able to duplicate the issue (slow start). Maybe electrical?? We'll see.

Don't worry. You'll be back for a new converter in a month or so. By that time it will have filled the trans full of crap and they'll replace the trans at the same time. Happened to me.....

So the dealership got tired of troubleshooting. They said the slow start issue only happened once so it can not be troubleshot at this time. Hopefully I won't be back.
