Mods to do when adding a cam

So in the beginning stages of researching and picking parts to cam my car finally and was wondering what mods are A) required and B) recommended when doing a cam. I've got long tube headers and catbacj, cold air and ported TB but what else would you say? Never built a car before so I'm not sure what I should be looking at to get a good cost estimate. Thanks guys and gals

Rod mod intake is a good one, a lighter clutch (stock 59lbs is ridiculous), gears!!, Oil pump!!, LS2 dogbone, U/D pulley while its off, lifters if high mileage.

Good news is I had some of those ideas on my list already, didn't think about the oil pump but for the sake of looking stupid LS2 dogbone??

The ls2 dogbone is the timing chain tensioner. Rocker trunnion upgrade.

Perfect, tahts what i assumed just hadn't heard it referred to as a dogbone. I'm at 80k miles now, not sure when I'm gonna be able to do a cam (need a second car, its my only right now and have to drive through snow in the winter haha) but be worth thinking bout new lifters then?

Lifter buckets too, and proper length pushrods even though thats a no-brainer. Should be fine with an LS7 lifter unless you're turning higher RPMs. The GMPPs and Johnsons are suitable for higher RPM hydraulic roller builds.

Trunnions in your rocker arms I’m going from the Che kit to the BTR shaft mounted system when my car goes back together
