My pocket book is pretty much empty after this car if finally built. I just talked to Gary at ARE and he has a dry sump setup that keeps the air conditioner
in tact. $2700 bucks! I dont think i need this system that bad. I may just go with a nice big oil cooler and maybe a 3 qt Accusump and track it a few times and datalog the oil system info. I still need to order my CTS-V/ZL1 brake conversion

I retired almost 4 years ago and was gonna buy a nice Bass rig, then i decided the new Camaros were pretty cool......$85 grand later and i am still looking at upgrades! Thing is, Im still instructing here on the Base as a civilian and the Operations Group parking lot is full of Vettes, Camaros, Porsches, 3 Ferarri F360s, an Aston Martin and a Viper. When my car is done in hopefully a month it should be able to shame them all in the 1/4 and on the road course!

Here is my first HPDE track day at PIR.
Lots of fun.

Also Harry's laptimer is a great app for IPhone.

The wheels will likely be spendy, but 18's offer a much wider race tire variety.
Talked to CCW and they do have a series designed to fit over Big Brake Kits. And you are right about being spendy.....$700 to $800 per wheel.

They are recommending 18x11 front and 18x12 rears. Tires to be 315/30 f and 335/30 r. That's a lot of tire.....and gravel thrown up on the side of the car I bet.

Now that is some driving on the edge! 590 normally aspirated RWHP looks and sounds awesome! What a handful!

So aside from Bull running a D1SC soon on the road course, anyone else running FI? Asking because I am leaning toward the F1R on my continued build process. Leaning toward centri as it should be a lot more manageable power coming out of the corners and the IAT should be better. So who's running FI and how is it in this environment. Like the normally aspirated idea but the FI will be a lot more street manners friendly for the same or more power.

The oil starvation issue is directly related to driving style and course layout. Analytical calculating drivers produce consistent high G steady state turns. More aggressive feel it stick it drivers will see higher peak Gs, but not hold steady Gs. Course with even a minimal degree of bank in the turns dramatically increase the risk of oil starvation. The same is true with high speed high G sweepers. If you hold high G steady state turns, especially on high speed sweepers or run banked courses you will eventually run into an oil starvation issue and incur failure unless you have gone to a full dry sump system. You can pull a 1.3 G peak in a turn as you play point and shoot or pitch and catch all day long and it won't result in oil starvation. Pull steady state 1 G turns on a banked sweeper and you could be in for a short track day. Additional oil volume helps. An accu-sump will help. A full dry-sump system is best.

Keep in mind that tires have a huge impact on steady state Gs. The theoretical limit on a street tire is 1.3 Gs. Bruce Raymond's and LPE's Camaro on Pedders Suspension with Bridgestone RE-11s and ZL1 Goodyears have combined to average 1.22 Gs across a variety of corners on a variety of tracks. The LPE is dry sumped and Raymond's is not. The PUSA Camaro is not. Corvettes weight hundreds of pounds less than a 5th Gen with more rubber. Compare the tire contact patch in a Vette divided by weight to the same formula in a Camaro. You can't get enough tire under the Camaro to match the Vette. That is a key reason we see more engine failures in the Vette. It is far easier to hold a high G steady state turn in a Vette with all that rubber. Get the right suspension under your Camaro with the right drivers and we are running close to the edge with oil starvation just like a Vette.

That brings us full circle to the driver's style and course layout.

I have come to the conclusion that for my situation a big oil cooler and maybe an Accusump will be plenty. I only plan to take the car out once a month at the most during the "track days" at Eagles Canyon raceway. I do plan on installing some nice aftermarket oil pressure and temp gauges, and maybe a datalogger to monitor things.

Don't plan on getting too much into this, just want to take the car some place where i can legally engage in some spirited driving. After some of the Vids i have seen here i will be fine! Doesn't seem that the cars in the videos are spontaneously combusting entering the first sweeping left hand turn If the PUSA Camaro survived the way it was driven....cant see a reason why i would have issues!

Definitely needs a better oil cooler. Would be nice if someone came up with a kit that could bolt right up to the stock cooler location. It was cool/raining today and it wasn't cutting it even on a tight course. Stock location next to exhaust is retarded.

Do you have any suspension mods? I can't even hook with bolt on power. Spending money on the suspension, brakes, and driver skills are the priority. More power just makes it harder although I'll probably be going FI eventually. But I do it for fun and not competition. I have changed my plans on what gets bought when though. I was only doing half the suspension but now I think I need to do everything. Really going back and forth on CTS-V brakes versus just pads.

Travis, the Pedders USA Camaro ran a D1sc and was about 580rwhp with that setup. I didnt read about any issues with it.. I know JusticePete sold the car but dont know what its doing now?

There is a complete bolt in kit for the 5th gen. Pm gmgoodwrench3. There was a thread going around with the kit. here it is. I know he still has them, i was gonna get one but my builder says he has all these parts in stock for cheaper
