285 square on a V6?

TL;DR at bottom.

I have done a lot of looking around on the forums and have come to a decision. I wanted a square setup that I can rotate (front to back, because burnouts) and originally wanted a 9 inch wheel and 275s all around.

Well, 275/40 20s don't have the best selection out there, so I changed my mind to 285/35 20s. This seems to be what most square setups are anyways. It seems like a 20x10 et35 wheel all around works best. I ordered them, they should be in next week. I wanted the TSW Nurburgrings but they don't make them in silver (NOT mirror) so I went with the TSW Genevas.

I went out to the car to check clearances and it seems like the extra 1" I'll add to the inside comes VERY close to the inside suspension, if it will even fit at all. This got me thinking, most of the guys seemed to have SSs. I know there are differences in brakes and suspension between the SS and LT, my question is, do they have more clearance in an SS, or will I be fine?

The only V6 I could verify with big wheels was Lola (Derek's), and he is running EVEN wider with a 10.5, BUT only a 25mm offset. This gives his tire a 3.65 clearance advantage inside. The other issue (maybe) is he has 1LE suspension, so he could have more room to work with.

This setup is intended to remove weight and add grip for the track. If it won't fit, will a small spacer help, and will it be safe driven HARD?

TL;DR- Will a 20x10 et35 fit on front of a stock suspension V6? If not, will a 3-10mm spacer do the trick, and is it safe to run the spacer on the track?

I'm running the 275/40/20 square set up on my car because it was the closest to the stock sizes.

I'm not sure how the 285/35 will fit, but it will be quite a percentage different than stock and you should probably tune for the size change.

Yea, i know the diameter will be different, so my speedo will be off, but since there is no diference front to back, there will be no T/C problems.

The easiest way to determine how thick a spacer you can run is with an open lug nut. Make sure the lug completely fill the threads of the lug nut. Once the threads are full it doesn't matter if there is 1/32" sticking out or three feet.

Is that on a 9, 9.5, or 10in wheel?

Will 275/40x20 fit correctly on a 10.5 inch wide rim? I was thinking of doing a square setup with the 10.5's on my V6, but then I was thinking maybe the 9" rim was enough due to unsprung weight.

A 9" rim will be fine. That is what the RS and SS use on the rear.

Yes, but a 9 wont fit 285 35s. I wanted a 9.5 square, but 10s are more common.

I'm running 20x10s with et35 on all four corners with 285/35s. Yes, they are very close to the front suspension, but they do not touch.
