Odd size/offsets
Thinking of buying these rims, Front: 20x9 5x120 +38mm; Rear 20x10.5 5x120 +40mm
I may go the staggered or do a square setup. Any thoughts as to offset, fit and tire sizes? I do tend to drive on crappy NY roads, so I was thinking the 40 series vs. the 35 series tires.

You can do this setup if you want
I would use a 3 mm spacer front and back however for more clearance. |

The fronts you mentioned 20x9's ..... would work without a problem at all without an additional spacer. There are LOTS of people here (myself included) that have used the stock rears on the front and they are 20x9's with a 40 m, offset.

Any thought on the 20x10.5's with the +40 offset all around?

Offset is the distance from the center of the rim to the mounting surface. Positive offset is when the mounting surface is closer to the outside of the wheel. More + offset moves the wheel further in.

surgteck....as Fred (above ^^) said....the difference between the two offsets is only 2 mm....but it will push the wheel further out if the wheel well....so if you put let another 3 mm spacer behind it as suggested, will push it out even further.
if you want a very get explanation with graphic representations (pictures) of offset and backspacing you will find one here what us in the stickies. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111604

So... given a 9 inch rim and a 10.5 inch rim, what would be max offset in front and rear position for each wheel? I think if I did the 20x9 all around thats pretty safe, but if I did the 10.5 all around there would be an issue up front? I'm at stock height right now, but hoping to drop an inch shortly after wheels and tires. Thanks for all the advice guys!

well as far as the fronts go....a 20x9 w/ a 40mm offset would be the max I would go....which is what stock rears are and work like a champ....myself and a lot of other have run that squared set-up for a long time. As far as the 20 x 10.5's go....I would have to defer to someone else that has run that set-up, I just can't say FOR SURE and would not want to steer you wrong.
