New 13 Zl1 owner, Vict Red
Just bought a 13 Zl1 6SP with 11k. Drove it from Houston to Socal with no issues.
Did experience some clunking when starting off while turning. From what I read that seems somewhat normal, correct? Strut cap sticks up about 1", again, normal? Having all fluids changed as a precaution. Any other recommendations? I'm in San Diego, taking it to Kearny Chevrolet, any comments? Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the forums. A big thing that I would recommend is listen to see if you hear any noise coming from the supercharger at idle. If you hear something take it to the dealership and get it replaced for free as long as the car isn't modded. As soon as it was replaced, I would take the snout off the blower and place a solid isolator as this is a weak point on the ZL1s. If you plan on doing some modifications then we can discuss other recommendations.

I don't recall clunking. Normally that is needing rear differential fluid be changed out with actual real OEM ac delco fluid with the proper additive. I think ours has the needed additive already mixed in and I'm not feeling like googling it for you now. Someone else can or you can.
Oh, and enjoy your new car. Most all new ZL1 owners do unless they are coming from a lighter, 800hp, car. Edit: I decided to check my recollection and did it for you, https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533824 https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=411801 |

Welcome.
Don’t be surprised if your shocks start leaking around 35k miles and need replaced. New mag rides are north of $2k but coil overs are way better and run about $1k. Also if you plan on upping the boost reinforce the supercharger brick or else it might collapse under the pressure and cause excessive boost temps.

Thanks much for the advice. Clunking hasn't happened lately.
I'm having all fluids changed and will listen to any noise from the supercharger. Any recommendations on cell phone holder? I'm not into using a suction type of device. I've seen the Top Clips that attach on the center console, any feedback? Also planning on adding a camera to the front to not destroy the splitter. Any advice? I bought a bluetooth one that sinks via bluetooth on my phone, not sure if it's going to be any good. I've seen ones that synch to the center screen but it seems like a complicated process. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the party here! Your going to love the Z the more you drive it. If you have questions about your car do not be afraid to ask. There are some great people on this site and we are always willing to help. Congrats on the purchase of the ZL1.

Thank you for all the advice and welcome messages.
I live in San Diego and the K&N intake that came with the car is not legal in CA for me to pass smog. Anyone know where I can buy a used stock intake and tube? |

There is also "5th Gen ZL1 not for the faint hearted" which is also very active and "ZL1 Exclusive". I spend more time on the first one as it's geared toward the 5th gen specifically.
