2nd Production 2011 Camaro Convertible to be auctioned on 24th!

Quote:
OFFICIAL GM Press Release: LAS VEGAS – Car collectors on Friday will vie to become one of the first owners of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, several months ahead of its arrival in dealerships and even before the production car is shown to the public.

The winning bidder will receive the second 2011 Camaro Convertible produced for consumer sale. The car on the auction block in Las Vegas will be the Camaro Convertible Concept that has traveled the world’s auto shows. The first production model will be used for historical purposes.

The production version will make its debut later this fall, prior to start of production in early 2011.

Chevrolet is partnering with Greg Heinrich, owner of Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, to offer one of the first Camaro convertibles at the Barrett-Jackson Auction on Friday (Sept. 24) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Proceeds from the winning bid will go to the YMCA of Southern Nevada.
Not sure if this has been posted yet (I checked a few pgs) but Lot #396 at the Barret-Jackson Auction is the bid for the second off the production line of the 2011 Camaro Convertible (available Q1 2011).

The winning bidder will have his choice of color, engine, transmission, trim and options and can pick the delivery location - either their hometown dealer or at the GM Heritage Museum in Detroit.

Greg Heinrich, owner of Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, together with GM, will offer the second production example of the upcoming 2011 Camaro Convertible at the Barrett-Jackson Auction on Friday (Sept. 24) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada. The first production copy of the car will be kept by GM for historical purposes.

Wonder if the gas fill will stay on top the drivers side rear fender???? Stripes past the mail slot? Trim rings around the exhaust?

If you buy it and they donate the proceeds to charity... can you write off what you spend? ;-)

It would be nice to have but you couldn't modify this one at all as they are probably keeping #1, so having #2 would have some serious long-term value, right?

I believe that they take the MSRP off the total and what's left is the charitable donation.

I think this car looks absolutely fantastic with the roof down... rag-top Up however.. ya lost me. I just don't like the ribs in the canvas. I would buy a hard top vert in a heartbeat though. I know it would be more expensive and heavier, but worth it IMO.

Oh I want... but I know I could never afford a winning bid :(.

My parents have #2 of the 40th Anniversary Vette (by pure luck). Having #2 added no extra value. But having a 17 year old car with just barely over 5000 miles on it does.
