Magnaflow Tru X-Pipe and Competition Series Axleback
Just installed a Magnaflow Tru X-Pipe and Magnaflow Comp. Series axleback on my 2011 Camaro SS L99.
Must say, I am pretty pleased at the sound, noticable perfromance gain, and the appearance of the 5" inch tips. No problem chirping the tires now. I can hear when the AFM comes on, but it is not very noticable or I've already gotten used to it..lol. Either way, I figure I will keep this set-up for a while. The sound at WOT is siiccckkk!! The drone is very minimal. I had a 06 Mustang GT with an offroad H-pipe and MAC axlebacks and that drone was terrible. (When I would be on my bluetooth, people thought I was mowing the grass). I took a 2 hour trip up I95 this past weekend and could barely hear it. The car is still quiet when idling at a light too. Next project is to install this CAI and see what it can do.......

So you setup is pretty much a muffler delete. Do you have headers? I was told with headers it is obnoxiously loud. I have the magnaflow street mufflers with my BFE headers and x-pipe. Fortunately due to a shipping error by magnaflow, I also have the 5" tips from the comp series exhaust.

That magnaflow setup is awesome, nothing but the sound of the engine. I have this xpipe and comp axle back but with long tubes. It can be really really loud but it's sexy. I used to drive with borla s type and would step on the gas a bit more to hear the exhaust note. Now I drive trying to keep it down lol. Have fun

@SHWA: Yes, this is pretty much a muffler delete. I currently do not have headers (Next project).

Very awesome to hear you love the sound! Sounds like a great set-up as well. The tru-x pipe is where you will find a majority of the power gain in the way that it really helps to pull the gasses through the pipes and allow better flow. I always love how Magnaflow does a great job at addressing drone with their systems, and it sounds like you have a good experience as well with little drone.
Anywho, congrats on the set-up, and sounds like you're on the right track with a CAI next! post up a sound clip if you get the chance! |

I have the full magnaflow comp cat system w SW 1 7/8" long tubes.... LOUD! bad ass, but loud! There's clips in the link in my sig... 3 of us in my club had the SW headers installed, w my Magnaflow, a Borla S Type and a Corsa catback, mine is by far the deepest and loudest. Gives it a serious muscle car sound!
The Magnaflow by itself opened up quite a bit after I put some mikes on it (b4 the headers). It got a little louder, but a lot deeper and Fuller. Great all around system.

Looks like you ran entire new pipe from the rear of the X to the small extension pipes that are incuded with the axle back? Did you go with aluminized tubing or stainless? 304 or 409? Was a standard tubing bender used?
Thanks |

I am considering this magnaflow x pipe to replace my large L99 resonator (now rattling). I have AFM tuned out so I am OK there, but is the center to center distance of the Magnaflow 10791 x-pipe correct to fit with the end of my cataytic converter system (like the picture has it)? I think it measures 4" center to center leaving about a 1.5" gap, but I seem to recall my pipes being closer than that.
Also, I noticed there are two canisters at the cats on most of these cars. The O2 sensor is after the first one so I think it's the cat, so what is the other one next to it downstream? Another resonator, part of the cat system, etc? |
