Z28 vs. ZL1 quarter mile?

I wonder where those numbers come from because I have never seen any results from the Z/28 except the 'Ring time.

I do not know at all where the numbers come from, all the other ones seem to be pretty accurate. But time will soon tell! I do believe they will be somewhere in that ball park if not better. I will not be so concerned about beating on this car from a stand still if I am allotted one, being that the ZL1 is built pretty bullet proof to handle the stand still launch.

The only 'official' numbers on the Z/28 are its lap times on the Nurburgring & GM's Milford Road Course.

That said, between the two the ZL1 is going to be the better drag car. Even if the numbers are close, the ZL1 will probably hold up to abuse incurred via drag racing a bit better.

I thought I read somewhere that the z/28 had lighter, thinner axles that the zl1. I think it was to save weight and the z/28 was not designed to take the abuse of launching a car at a drag strip as is the zl1. To me, this is one of the reason I believe the zl1 is a more well rounded car compared to the z/28.

The 4.1 0-60 probably has something to do with mainland training @ MPG. Hard to keep ALL secrets "secret"...so don't tell anyone, 'k?

The ZL1 is definately more well rounded. The Z/28 is absolutely, unequivocally focused on the road course. All else is secondary (including 1/4 mile performance)

The Z/28 will have a lighter setup than the ZL1, but it also has less power & weight to deal with so it doesn't need to be as strong. I don't know if the Z/28 drivetrain will be 'too delicate' to drag race (many think it is though), but its probably safe to say that it would never be considered 'overbuilt'.

I think a Z28 will walk away from a SS with basic mods.

I bet the ZL1 and Z28 are an even match though, both running lowish 12's with a good driver.

In 1/8 mile drivers race, 1/4 mile ZL-1 by car length, 1/2 mile ZL1 by 2 cars, 1mile ZL1 by 3&1/2. Now add in some curves the Z/28 starts pulling the ZL1. Just my guess

The Z/28 is going to ~8% lighter. So multiply 505HP x 1.08 so about 545 relative HP. It should trap about 115-116 mph. ET's are always launch dependent. That's enough MPH to run high 11's, but will probably run mid-12's on OEM tires.
