I don't have an opinion on the car really. I like seeing the reality of Tesla versus the over boasting promises made. There something satisfying about watching a person pat themselves on the back before they have even accomplished anything. I remember Tesla boasting how it was going to show the big boys how it was done with electric cars. That has yet to be seen if they can, but it's not looking good. It's just a matter of watching smug get hit by a truck.

Thanks for your $1k reservation deposit, we know it's taking us forever to produce your Model 3 but you can order it now! Oh yeah we're gonna need another $2500 from you.

As far as the deposits go, it will take two and a half 1K refunds and cancellations to match every new 2.5K supplemental deposit....I think he'll come out money ahead in the long run...

That takes some balls!

Would-be Model 3 owners already put down a $1,000 refundable deposit to “reserve” one of Tesla’s Model 3s. Those reservation holders must pay an additional $2,500 to turn their reservations into an order, at which point the original $1,000 deposit goes toward the overall payment for the car. Buyers can cancel their orders within three days for a full refund, the company confirmed, but after that their money is Tesla’s for good.

At this stage it's probably not a big deal....Anyone who was unhappy would have gotten their 1K deposit back long ago...Those who haven't obviously aren't that upset about it....

When the car is built they gotta come up with the purchase price anyhow...What's another 2.5K compared to the 30-40K??? they will have to come up with at some point. If they were denying refunds, that would be another story....

The only real upset will be with GM and others, when Tesla's customers don't cancel and run out and buy a Volt or a Bolt....Not gonna happen.
