Should I have the fenders aligned properly?

Hey Guys:

I am a Car OCD guy and at some point of time my car was lifted at a wrong lift point in the dealership and the fender got misaligned on the driver side for a bit its unnoticable though but for someone with an eye of detail he/she will notice that there is a gap.

I went to a dealer we I compared both Fenders, the fender with the white side skirt is a car on display dealership.Meanwhile, mine is the one without the side skirts. The technician has determined that there is a minor misalignment on the driver's side.I called in GM and hopefully they can do this task for me under warranty I have attached both pictures. Is it worth it getting the fender aligned in my case and does the process involve remove the rocker moulding to get to the bolt.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What's this got to do with your warranty if damage was done by the dealer?

Dealership is too lazy to cover that under warranty they referring me to a 3rd party body shop worse of all they'll trying to convince me that its not covered under warranty and that ill have to pay the bill meanwhile GM told me they'll reimburse me,I had a misalignment issue before on my rear bumper and that was covered under warranty.

the 3rd party body shop told me its factory thats normal but I can guarantee you something they're just trying to get away from adjusting a simple bolt.

The definition of an accident nowadays is too funny its almost a joke in this community as seen from previous posts regarding similar topics. Yes, my car was involved in some form of an accident due to bad lift points which kinda pushed the fender a bit away when or where exactly I'm not sure however is this fix a simple bolt on adjustment or does it involve taking off the rocker mouldings that I don't know If its got to do with more than a simple bolt I'd rather have my car in one piece than have the dealership add more insult to injury.

I don't know, it certainly isn't perfect, but in all honesty I could believe if someone told me this was within factory tolerances.

Here is mine for comparison, it's the second 6th gen I've owned and they both were very similar "out of the box", there is a large gap under the door, and the fender is vertically aligned with it, but not with the rocker panel. Pardon me for all the dirt, she badly needs a wash. (The splash guard's edge is almost vertical btw, it's the perspective that makes it look strange.)

Not sure this is worth the hassle and potentially making things worse in your case, except maybe if this misalignment with the driver door bothers you. Of course it's your call, but even brand new 6th gens look very similar or worse than yours...

Thank you for the advice I have decided not to go with it as the dealership would be more likely to damage my car than to actually fix it,again thank you for the insight.

I've seen what workers do on the assembly line to adjust doors. They dont lossen bolts or use a micrometer to check gaps.
They have a little plastic go/no go gauge they slide around or just eye ball it.
If it's off they open the door and bend it whatever way they feel needed. Then close the door. Sometimes they wack it with a rubber mallet.
Done
If it totally messed up they might tag it for QC....might.

Adjust a gap in one area will mess it up somewhere else.

What bothers me most is when the panels aren't even so that for example one sticks out farther than the panel next to it. I too have seen the various "How It's Made" shows and BradfordCamaro is correct. A quick Go-NoGo gauge and some even quicker bending and pulling to line things up. I guess if you do this all day long you quickly become an "expert of sorts" on where to pull, push or bang to fix the various types of issues. But then again, maybe not.

Last night I hand pushed the bottom of the fender and took out about half of the misalignment caution it doesnt take much pressure

That's what a body shop would do if you took it there.

Have a few beers. Wash your car and say F--k It. I love my car just the way it is.
I could post up a few rants about certain things that bug me about my car. But everything else about it is just so Awesome....I really dont care anymore.

My pleasure.

(BTW I'm mostly OCD about the car, too, but actively trying to find a healthy balance at the same time. For example, my washing skills are simply not good enough to never put a swirl on the car, ceramic coat or not---I decided to live with them instead of freaking out each time, and to have a grand detailing "session" instead, maybe in a few months. This thinking helps me enjoy her all the more.)
