What the ****.. how can that even hold up in court? Some asshole cop gave me a ticket for having my exhaust too loud.. I think I'm just gonna go to court and fight it.

there is something called a noise ordinance, and the bad thing if he deems your to load he can right you up. find out how may db's your makin and then as long as your below the set rules your fine.

I like that law at certain times of night when a jerkoff on a Harley is cranking one open outside my house at 3am.

They aren't always prick cops.

It's why they put those 'trash cans' on it, straight from the factory... to meet all 50 states laws. Noise laws are trickey too, if you really want to fight this, and can prove you are within the law, I'd bring a ton of evidence. Sound, Video, proven witnesses (a notary republic).

(I'd refrain from callin' him an asshole, as well. If there wasn't a law for it... then he would be an asshole, but we've passed so damn many dumb laws... he was doing his job.)

If you still have the stock exhaust system, you may have a valid argument in court.
If you've modded the exhaust in any way, you're screwed. Suck it up and pay the fine. It's not worth the missed work and waiting around a courthouse all day for your case. It essentially boils down to being the cop's word against yours, and a judge will always side with the law.

We have a guy in our neighborhood that sets off all the car alarms & rattles the windows when he goes by on his Harley!

There are laws in every state for noise. Up north it used to be called "modified exhaust". If it anything but stock and it is loud, then yes, they can give you a ticket. It happens. I know - the mufflers on Freebird flow 1300 cfm. Each...

I use to get that all the time when I lived in Detroit ... The thing was at the time they could only issue you one excessive noise ticket within 24 hours, so went open headers for the rest of the night ...

On a side note, your lucky you didn't run into Crocket & Tubbs ... Them guys are real pricks !!! LOL ...

Harleys have got to be the worst as far as noise. I don't understand how they can run straight pipes, but they ticket car guys.

I was going for the Borla ATAC but knowing my car will already be a cop magnet, I maybe need to get something a little less aggressive.

As to bikers. I live in a small community in West Los Angeles, near the beach. Between 11:00 to 12:00 every Wednesday night, there are a bunch of riders (road rockets not Harleys) that are
are bombing down Sunset Blvd, heading for a late night run up PCH. Tons of people complain, but when I hear them, even if they wake me up, I just smile and think have fun folks. Don't ride anymore, old age and injuries, so am just jealous as hell. Turns those dogs loose boys.
A footnote. We have one officer on patrol in our area and when he was asked why he didn't enforce noise laws, he just said, "they'd leave my cruiser in the dust". Smart cop.

Not sure about exhaust, but I asked my State Trooper freind how loud can you have the radio in your car before getting warned or ticketed and he said "If I can HEAR your radio from my car, I can wright you a ticket.
