I'm sure the mods will agree that having multiple "What's the best CAI" threads is not only a waste of space, but dilutes the threads with the best responses. If everyone diligently searches for the "best CAI" thread and continues adding to it, suddenly you have a single library and discussion with all the pertinent points about CAI, versus 80 threads full of tidbits of info, along with a lot of "shut up and do a search." --a lot of the repeat threads quickly find their way to deletion, for exactly this reason.

Make sense? Dickish threads get dickish responses.

HAHAHAH!!!! Perfectly said. Also, could you please stop including so many different faces on your post. It takes away with what you're trying to get at.

One thing people need to remember is this is a Social network... It isn't a business, and how is a new member going to feel a part of it if they are secluded into a corner of the forum to search for items....

I hate the "do a search " and "oh damn, here we go again" comments... I try to answer the question and post a link if I feel like going back and looking for it.... Not everyone has been on here for two or three or four years... They may not have ever seen or remember every post ever made in every thread... Those of you that do need to get out and drive more... Yes, I spend a lot of time on Camaro5, when I'm stuck overseas it's my tenuous grasp on home....
What really gets me fired up is to see some nube with all of twelve post telling someone to do a search.... They are nothing but trolls, or forum whores... and they need to work on their tans rather than lurk around being a pain in the A&&.

As for the grammar police, as long as it is understandable, I have no problem with mis-spellings and sentence structure concerns... Again, It's a social network, not a classroom or a business communication.... and yes, proper spelling and sentence's do add validity and a modicum of intelligence to the post, they are by no means necessary.... Again.... It's a social network... not work...

I dont feel the need to post a "do a search" cause there is a tread that covered X topic already. I enjoy reading "most" ...topics and I might find out something new on another CAI topic. Heck these are all Camaros, how many times do I need to see it in a different color or one with X mod…You see one you seen um all right… I love seeing it over and over , is it any different from asking the CAI question again (maybe but still). I guess its just the computer age and we can hide behind our PCs and not have to face someone while we are rude. But I am sure if they/ I are standing at some Camaro meet in front of you and ask, “hey what CAI did you go with” or "what CAI you think is the best” you wont tell us to “go do a search” . Really you don’t need to read or respond to the thread if you don’t like it, or know its been asked before.

For those who respond to the repeated question with info and constructive answer I you, just the few that don’t…have inspired this rant. And if you don’t like what I just said, I will be right behind my PC…so bring it...

Thanks for your time.

Camaro 5 is still the best site I use…period!

because asking/answering a question repeatedly is a waste of bandwidth

Is Camaro5 using the same software to operate as is Facebook...??? I have no idea... and I agree, it would suck...

My point is that this place is for us to be able to reach out to others with a like interest in this amazing car... If we banish people to a search function then we do ourselves a disservice...

At some point, we would run out of new things to talk about and then everyone would be relegated to searching...and then you have the "beating a dead horse posters"...

Extreme I know, but there it is.... just an opinion...

I agree completely, and while I dislike poor grammar, it's just not my thing to talk down to someone. From my experience on these forums, the gibberish speakers are few and far between.

And it's pretty easy to tell when someone is a NON-English speaker versus a grammar train-wreck. Non-English speakers leave out words and often have a rigid way of asking about things and typically aren't the run-on sentence type. The grammar train-wrecks that feel the need to preserve their (.) key or the (A) shift key, or other key points of punctuation or syntax. The latter types are forgiven--it's their best attempt, versus the former, who just don't give a damn.

Fair enough, you bring up good points here. My problem is with folks who will just point out a misspelled word here and there, leaving no other comment or relevant contribution to the discussion.

Many of us access these forums from smartphones with wonky touchscreens and autocorrect features that can, at times place a word that is completely out of context into a sentence. I actually turn autocorrect off on my phone for this reason. Occasionally I have misspelled a word. (It is a rarity.) The last thing that I need is someone making a post just to correct it. I also don't want to have to sift through Grammar nazi spam when I read through forum posts.

If you're going to rant, write well. It preserves your argument and credibility.

Again, I agree. A poorly written rant or argument essentially shatters any credibility that one has. Some people have stronger writing ability than others. Some people don't care either way. Personally, I dismiss and skip over illegible writing. Others try to correct the offending poster. Totally their right to do that too. May not be my cup of tea, but we don't all have to agree here. We SHOULD have to respect each other.

If you search back a bit, I made a few sarcastic replys to a member who HABITUALLY wrote posts that made virtually no sense. I probably was a bit out of line. Perhaps I even behaved somewhat hypocritical to my own beliefs. Nobody is perfect. Myself included.

Like yours. Except I think you're mistaking "elitist attitude" for someone that takes pride in written communication and preserving a well-articulated forum.

Thank you for taking the time to notice that I do tend to think before I write, and that when I do write something, it is readable.

I, in turn think that you are mistaking my response to the OP as being directed at you personally. I have actually enjoyed many of your posts here (notably, the one regarding taking pride in enjoying and owning an American made automobile.) From what I have seen, you generally don't just post in a thread to correct someone's grammatical errors. When you do disagree with someone you write out your thoughts in complete sentences, and tend to stay within the boundaries of the context of the discussion.

There's a bunch of douchebags too...every forum's got them. Not much you can do about them.
I've been a member of TONS of internet forums. Every one of them has Jerks.

There's a difference between a grammar nazi, elitist troll and a forum member who simply speaks their mind bluntly, without sugar coating their opinion.

I've always found you to be in the latter category.

Sorry for the long winded post. I simply did not wish for you to think that I harbored any ill will towards you, or that my initial response to the OP's topic was directed at you personally.

I understand having 100 "best CAI" threads is a waste of time and space, but the search on this forum is not that great. You can spend hours trying to find what you search for. I guess I can see both arguments.

Can't we all just get along?

What pleases me about this thread is that it boils down to a discussion about etiquette. Many good points have been made and many pet peeves of my own have been mentioned. If this thread can in fact bring more kindness and patience to the awareness of folks who may not initially BE kind or patience, then we all did something worthwhile. Truth be told, I believe that how most people comport themselves in the forum and on the internet in general shows how they usually interact with others out in the real world. All that being said, if you run across an asshole, ignore so that you don't become infected.

This thread will prove worthless in a "SEARCH".
Why does everyone have to put their 2 cents in about etiquette and grammer etc.? Maybe this is why some dont "search"!!!
The mods should just remove the crap not related to the topic and shorten some pages up or remove the post counter all together. Stupid post whores......

Oh yea.........VARARAM!!!!!! Never understood why people do extensive head work to FLOW better and then put on a multi-angle elbow with a cone filter sucking in minimal or engine compartment air?
I prefer to keep mine a little discreet when opening the hood instead of showing off my new toilet plumbing. Now thats MY opinion. Love to see who bashes on that!!!!
Kinda noticed alot of computer geeks on here to correcting spelling and being macho behind the computr. I bet that if anyone asked the many geeks anything else about a non related car question, they would just pass over the post.
On the other hand, there are people on here that blow my mind away with their knowledge.
Also alot of pretty C5 members that can post whatever they like.....

Well I learned something last week when I made a shitty attempt at being funny. The threads OP talked about someone giving him the finger in a drive-by because he had a Camaro; and I thought it was funny to say that "Thats what you get for living in a crappy neighborhood".

I was honestly just trying to give the guy a chuckle, but others took offense that I was being a snob. I felt bad about it because I always try and help others. Some things may be funny to you, but not to others. Some things come across differently in a typed message vs a conversation.

Now lets all go have a few beers!

I think that a lot of the questions come from newbies that want to know what the latest and greatest is. Not everyone who is here has been around cars forever. Some have only recently been bitten by the performance bug. It's the same mind set for cell phone, computers, anything else that evolves and becomes bigger, better, smaller, smarter ect. Think about it, if someone sees an old thread & puts a response or a question on it, this always comes out: "Man, didn't you see this thread is x weeks/months/years old?"

So, what's it to be? Old, New or some people would bi#ch if hung with a new rope. Ready to play roulette?? Spin the wheel and see if YOU yes You can hit the right thread to ask your question!!! just kidding of course but it really can be frustrating to those less experienced.

By the way....I love this place!
