That looks like one of the Ring Brothers reservoirs.

Hey Roger, thanks for replying. I spoke with Mike Ring, He is one of the two brothers that make up "Ring Brothers" and told him I had read your post, and that you had had problems with their reservoir. He wanted me to send him the link to see what the problem was and if he could make the necessary changes to fix it.

I will let you know.

Nathan, in fact Ted at JRE Liked the looks of it so much he purchased a few to keep on hand for additional customers, once he found the issue with fluid being pushed out the top he called the ring bros and discussed the issue with them, I am pretty sure Ted sent the inventory or what ever he purchased back to Ring Bros after discussions, not sure who Ted spoke with.

I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get one of these things and hope for the best.

The transmission/clutch is the most disappointing aspect of the car. I simply cannot shift from 1st to 2nd at high RPM without grind. It's infuriating !! I've had Corvettes for many years (C4, C5 and C6) and never once experienced this problem. I don't know how anyone can drag this car at the track with any kind of consistency.

It's surprising to me that I've never read about this issue in any professional review of the car. Are they not experiencing this problem?

in my case I replicated the 1st 2 2nd gear grind for my Dealer/Service dept
and they ended up switching out 1 - 2 synchro and rinngs see this post

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219212

but after this work was done, shifting got better but I did not chance
f'ing up the synchro again until the new master cylinder separate reservoir and stainless
line was installed, now I can pull hard in all gears at 6400 like nothing.. Much Much improved shifting thru all the gears with the master separate reservoir and braided stainless line + a high temp dot 4 fluid

Seperating the resevoir cleared all this up for me. I went with a billet Ring brohers reservoir. The only thing I ntoiced is the fluid will come out the vent when clutching hard. But so far shifting smooth and no grind into 2cnd.

We had great luck with the stock clutch/tranny. on my H/C/I camaro I had the stock clutch for about 33-35k miles and it was raced a lot with power shifting (no lift shifting) no problems at all. when I added the cam it started to stick in after few runs back to back. this was at around 455-460whp and 20+k miles.

here I started having issues when I ran the 997tt. only because I did about 4 runs with the Z06 and then ran the 997 right after it without letting the clutch cool down. plus I had issues with the short shifter. in this vid the clutch had about 33k miles

I have a lot more races with no issues with the stock clutch. I switched to a Spec clutch and have about 20k miles on it or so now. its working good but I think I have a little issue shifting to 3rd and 4th sometimes which I think the master cylinder will fix but since i am selling the car, I decided not to get it.

same with a supercharged camaro with around 540whp. on the streets it was running great with no issues on the stock clutch. it will start to fall in after 4 runs back to back. at the track with DRs it will only do 2 runs back to back and then start falling in. which is GREAT knowing the car is at ~540whp!!

BTW this same blue car ran 11.7 and did cut few 1.8s and one or 2 1.7X 60ft on the stock clutch!! problems started when we switched to the Kateck LS9R clutch.....

I know some people are having issues even with just a stock car but I never did on those two cars. I also have driven many other camaros usually with bolt-ons and cam/heads with no issues at all with the stock clutch. but I dont know really! the master cylinder is a GREAT upgrade I will tell you that

Color me dumb but could you run the IDealG master cylinder with the Ring Bros reservoir or is that redundant? Would there be any advantage to do so?
sorry for my ignorance.

Not redundant, actually recommended to run both.

yes you can. I have Ideal's master cylinder but with a GTO clutch resevor kit for Ed here in the forums with no issues. it will actually be better. the two have different functions but both improve the clutch. you will be spending about $300 on both mods. to me it was worth it. Great improvement.

the ls3 M6 use a shared reservoir, brake and clutch, the master cylinder gets fluid from the shared reservoir, fluids get dirty and hot from brake use and clutch use, separating the sources is a good to reduce the heat and fluid contamination from use, although it will still happen just may take a bit longer.

I tried to use the ring bros "nice reservoir" but found an issue where fluid was pushed out the top when depressing the clutch, there is no internal baffle to eliminate this, so I went with the separate GM "GTO" Reservoir

I have the Gto res as well and will be buying one of idealGs master cylinders soon around the time I do my cam swap! I noticed no difference in feel or any other aspect of the clutch aside from the fluid being cleaner in the past 10k miles with the new res
