Broken spring - replace both or one?

So this isn't related to my Camaro, but my winter beater (2013 Jetta) hit a pothole and broke the front driver's side spring. The car has 65k miles on it, and I don't want to put any money into it (need the $$ for the Camaro). Can I replace just the spring on the driver's side or if I'm putting a new spring on that side should I do the passenger's side too? Thanks folks.

Would make sense to replace them both but, start with just the one that broke and if the ride feels ok...call it good. As you said, you don’t want to put money into it.

Pretty sure if you go with auto parts store replacement parts they sell them in pairs. I can't imagine some Moog type replacements would be that expensive.

As mentioned I'd just do the one spring if this is a beater and you want to spend as little as possible. Being a VW I wouldn't even want to do that, but I guess you already have it...
