What is fast?

Hey guys, new to the forum here, long time Camaro fan!

I’ve had my 1992 Camaro 25th Anniversary since high school, I remember sitting in My intro to engineering class designing badges for the 45th Anniversary Camaro when it was announced. Always dreamt of being able to put one in my garage next to my 25th Anniversary Camaro. Well I finally made the dream come true after graduating college and finding a job I like.

Anyway, that is beside the point.

My Camaro with the LS3 and 6 speed certainly feels fast as hell, especially after driving my 92 with a 305 for almost 10 years.

So what do you guys start to consider a “fast car” in terms of horsepower. Is the 426 horses from an LS3 fast?

Definitely feels fast...

Thanks guys! Go burn some tires!

you'll get used to it... and then hopefully you'll start modding it. But the cool thing about the 5th Gen is that there is an endless proven aftermarket of performance goodies to keep you wanting more. Enjoy it!!!

Welcome to the site and congrats on fulfilling your dream!

In stock form, these cars aren't fast or quick, but the LS3 will mod very easily to get these beasts fast quickly!

Fast is what your car is until you make it faster or drive something faster. Your personal reference of fast will always be from your last perspective.

Ive owned cars that were fast. I've owned cars that were quick. When i bought my 5th gen I thought it was both. after getting use to it I upgraded it. I again thought it was both. I just upgraded it again. It felt like a monster...for a week. Now i need more ha ha. If you are a car guy nothing will be fast enough.

Fast is when WOT is just about impossible on public roads where you live.

My stock SS is probably not fast in Montana, but here in Massachusetts, I can't go WOT for more than about 4 seconds on a highway ramp, and only when there's no traffic. The car is too fast for public roads, but lots of fun at the drag strip, even though it's one of the slower cars to show up for street night. People bring 4-door Audi and Mercedes sedans that are faster (but they also cost twice as much).

So I guess fast is when you can afford the car and WOT puts a grin on your face.

First of all, welcome and congrats on the 45th. They are beautiful cars. I run the Texas mile, my car is not ever going to be quick the way it is set up now. It takes almost 13 sec to cover the 1/4 @133mph and almost 16 sec for the last 3/4@ 196mph. I'm hoping to get on the "Vegas" fast list in October

Fast is in the eye of the beholder. There is always someone faster and quicker. These cars are damn quick compared to cars 20-30 years ago. You'll get used to it and want more, always the case!

Congratulations on graduating. Sounds like you need to include a line item for car mods in your budget!

i agree with the above. its all in the eye of the beholder (or rider). someone who is used to a real race car most likely wouldn't think the Camaro is a 'fast' car, but one the other hand, someone who has never been in something with some HP and TQ would, imo, think they are fast. Me, i feel my car is pretty stout for what it is. Is it the fastest on the block...nope, not by a long shot, but it IS the fastest thing in my driveway..lol

Fast is something your happy with after doing a mod for about 10 minutes, then your brain quickly switches to, "What do I do now to go faster?", and then repeat this process over and over.

Then something eventually will break, so you fix it to hold up. This gives you an excuse to do another mod to make you a little faster.

Fast is fun....but fast is expensive as well.
