I'm laughing at your laughing, lol...

It occured to me a while ago that I thought it was pretty funny GM makes this sort-of announcement after we see talk of a 5.8L GT500, LOL. It's like the Duramax and Powerjoke debacle from this past model year.

So what is an "LSR"
1) Typo?
2) Mis-quote?
3) Something between an LSA and LS9?

Please tell me it's door number 3!!!

The GT500, fully optioned out with the track pack, is about mid $50's. The ZL1 will not be far from that considering all the performance features that are standard. Heck, the CTS-V starts at a price close to the $62k you predict. Do you really think GM is going to price a Camaro that closely to a Cadillac?

No need to go all Chicken Little on the subject of price point.
I don't think GM cares about the price of a Caddy verses the price of a camaro. Though I did base my guess off of a Caddilac CTS-V (which starts at 63,660 btw) But If I was to take away all the creature comforts of a V, and some of the fancy stuff, i come to around 53k for a ZL1. Of course when you add the new suspension, the sh!t hits the fan, so it's just a guess.

They only see my guess at what they are going to price it at. They don't know what I'm willing to pay.

7:41.27 in an automatic or manual ZL1?

LSR could be an LSA with a better intercooler and an LS9 cam (hoping)??

My guess on price is 65K taxes in.

We all can say that 1) We totally respect the lap time 2) We want the "beef" and 3) We are all in "alert" mode waiting to see just how we will or will not be able to afford the car. The next part coming and the biggest discussions on deck are going to be on "availablity" and "allocations".......... I appreciate all the input given from those in the know to help us "others" out a bit!! Thanks for all you do and provide!

Here's a summary of what GM North America president Mark Reuss said about the ZL1 at today's meeting in LA:

Quote:
Mark Reuss, president of General Motors North America flew from sunny and warm Detroit to rainy and chilly Los Angeles to address media members on Wednesday. Once he arrived, the climate change was evident in the room close to Los Angeles International Airport; this man's enthusiasm for automobiles, motorsports and General Motors is evident by his demeanor and excitement for the future.

The first item Reuss addressed was the vehicle on display outside the hotel where the meeting was held - Chevrolet's Camaro ZL1. The street and circuit-worthy Camaro wasn't terribly pretty but it looked, at first glance, that it was worthy of great performance.

Reuss stated as much - from personal experience - as he was one of the drivers to conduct performance validation on this machine on the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit of 14.173 miles in Germany, where the LSR-powered V8 muscle car turned an incredible 7 minutes, 41.27 seconds in a single lap, he said. Can anyone remember a GM president that was enough of an enthusiast to take part in a session of this type? Didn't think so.

The ZL1 was "forgiving and neutral," Reuss, a Grand-Am-licensed competitor said. "I was able to drive deeper than I ever have." He especially enjoyed passing the Porsche GT3's that were lapping concurrently, before the car was boxed and returned from Germany to the GM proving grounds and then brought to Los Angeles for this morning appearance. The street car will have its debut during the mid-November Los Angeles International Auto Show.

This is the ZL1 which ran this time on the Nurburgring:

This is supposed to be the actual prototype ZL1 which ran this impressive time. So yes, a manual ZL1

Looks like it was the same car that ran at the ring.
