This.

I have a relationship with a high quality shop. Been using them for decades.

That sucks buddy. Too bad people suck enough to not learn to pay attention when driving. Not sure what is so hard for commoners to understand about that

I have had better work from the body shop at my dealer than I have had with other shops in our area, including the one my brother-in-law works at.

Body shops are body shops. Every one is different. Just like mechanics or tire shops.

Hate you were in an accident...Find the best shop that you can, request OEM parts, when they complete the job do a full inspection, if anything is not to your approval make them do it again, it's on her dime, just a slight inconvenience for you...

It's actually in the insurance policy if they will replace with aftermarket cheapest they can find or OEM. Both our cars were rear ended last year and we found out the hard way that it is in the insurance policies . . . in turn the insurance company found out the hardway the aftermarket cheap parts are sometimes just cheap. They replaced the fuel pump with an aftermarket cheap one, 2 weeks later it was replaced with an OEM pump because the cheap one was intermittent.

Sorry to see what happened to your nice Camaro. The real bummer is now you will have a Carfax showing an accident and insurance won't compensate for diminished value.

Front passenger rim, passenger fender, passenger door, and passenger quarter panel all got it. You can't really tell in the pictures but the bottom of the quarter panel is pushed in a good 2-3 inches from the door. And I believe the post where the door hinges are may have been pushed in a bit.

Luckily she admitted fault to the officer that responded and her insurance accepted responsibility. I still expect the entire process to be a PITA.
Ouch! That looks almost identical to the damage I received, in a very similar situation... A guy decided to do a U-turn without looking to his left, in the middle lane, and totally side swipes me with the exact same damage you have. 100% his fault. It was a $5k bill.

My only "2 cents"... Make sure you get it done by someone you trust completely. Screw the insurance companies and do whatever it takes to ensure you get a good painter, because you don't want to have to repaint the whole car later on, like me .

It also depends on the laws in your state. Here in PA, an insurance company cannot require you to accept aftermarket or used parts. They will certainly try to get you to accept them if they are cheaper, but you can demand nothing but new OEM parts (assuming they are available).

Preliminary estimate was $3,300. Using a new GM fender/inner fender and a used GM door (can you still get a brand new door?). The advisor at the shop said expect that to go up significantly once they actually tear into it.

Apparently every shop in the area is backed up from a hail storm we had here a little while back. In turn rental places are pretty bare too. The only vehicle Enterprise had was a 2017 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 Hemi. Not exactly my first choice but I guess there are worse rentals out there.

That really sucks man. Just do your research on a reputable shop your insurance company or theres will work with look at reviews, ask questions and I sure in the end your car will be good as new

Sorry for your loss of your girl, I call all cars owned by guys as girls and vice versa. Make sure, in fact demand they use only factory OEM parts to replace, not knock offs, just like Styx84 said.
