1LE Axels
So a few weeks ago I started having an obnoxious chirp or squeak that sounded like it was coming from the clutch, rear wheels, or breaks. I was getting a "chirp" every time the clutch engaged whether I was moving from a stop or shifting while already moving.
After going to 2 shops we diagnosed the issue as being the axels have slight movement causing the squeak. The car was on coils for about 2 years and has been on air ride for about a year now. From what I understand having a low Camaro really strains these axels. Now the issue I'm having with a 2015 SS 1LE is that my axels are different from the standard SS. I believe they match a ZL1s axels. I've spent the last few hours doing research and it seems they have been discontinued and no one in the country has them. This would be part numbers 22806795 for the left rear axel and 22806796 for the right axel. These part numbers I received from a GM dealership after giving them my VIN and was told they are standard SS axel part numbers from Phastek when I told them. So, my next solution was do pickup some from Acdelco. It turns out they have also discontinued their replacement axels. At this point, it seems my only option is to upgrade to after market axels from GForce that cost around $1500 and take 10 - 12 weeks to get here or from Driveshaft Shop for $1200. I just ordered the axels from Driveshaft shop and hopefully they will align with the car. If anyone could double check that what I ordered will fit or that the information i've gathered is write or wrong that would be great. This has been an all day project with little success. Also If anyone themselves has replacement axels for sale please message me. Thanks everyone.

Have you thought about Z28 Axles those will work!
So before anyone says they won’t a Z28 uses the same case and carrier as a SS but use 3.91’s and a Eaton geared differential and Z28 specific axles. I’m currently running a Z28 Diff with 1LE axles without any problems. Try Rock Auto they have the right rear 23473010 and 23473011 on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-GM-...AAAOSwg~RfK3Q6

Not 100% sure but the Z28 has the LS7 an does push more power an Tq so I’d say yes.

I'm showing different part numbers: 22953759 & 22953760
They are also the same parts used in the Z/28. The numbers OP listed above are for a standard SS. |
