zl1 all the way, I love the z06 with that amazing ls7. But if I had to pick I would pick the Zl1 for sure.

Ask the same question on the corvette forum, I'm going to bet you get much different answers!

Vette prices are dropping like rocks. Couple of hot buys here that should be easy to duplicate at a local dealer. I'd opt for the 427 Convertible with F55 suspension for $61k.

First off all, don't buy a new z06. You can get a very low mileage one for <$50k. Put $4-5k in it and have a nice 600rwhp n/a car that will beat up most cars.

427 vert would be nice. Intake/tune/headers and it should handle a 700hp zl1 easy enough in a straight line if that is what you want.

One thing to note. The 700 HP kit by Lingenfelter is more like 700 at the wheels. A guy in the Camaro club I belong to has one and it is a beast. I believe it dyno'd a little over 700. If you want a car with stupid power that would do it.

I love my ZL1. If it was me I would buy and drive stock for a few. (Maybe 1500 miles to allow for break-in plus a few to feel how strong it is.) The car is very fast on the street and other than bragging rights you might not need the extra HP. (Not that I don't want to send mine off to have it done. )

I have a spec sheet form Lingenfelter for the 700 HP pkg and it says 634 to the rear wheels. for me the Camaro is the wya to go, it just has that true muscle car look to it.

Honestly I feel in love with the design of the 5th gens when they first came out. My wife and I had the funds for either the ZO6 or the ZR1 but just like the ZL1 better. We were not to thrilled with the cramped feelings of the corvette and how low it is to the ground. Don't get me wronge the vets are awesome cars, but just not for us.
You and your wife need to make the final choices, but for us it was a no brainer. Oh and I could not leave well enough
alone and keep mine stock. Mine has 600 hp to the rear and life begins when the kids are out of the house and on there
own.
Good luck and post a pic of what you finally end up purchasing.

AGREED I HAD THE $$$ FOR THE ZR1 AND THE ZL1. I CHOSE THE ZL1 VERT AND HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK. LOVE THE MAGNETIC SUSPENSION ON THE ZL1 AND WITH A FEW MODS I WILL HAVE @ 600 RWHP.....MORE THAN MY REFLEXES CAN HANDLE BUT IT SURE IS FUN TOO DRIVE!!!!

Off all the comments I think this one is on point. When the C7 hits the streets you will be able to get a lightly used 2010 or 2011 for a steal and the cars are nearly identical with the exception of some interior tweaks.

If you are going to spend that kind of money on a weekend driver I say go with the ZL1 and do the mods. The Z06 is not a tame vehicle ( I own a 2010) and won't be very pleasurable unless you are driving the crap out of it.

Somone said Z06's are a dime a dozen. Camaro's are too and not enough people can tell a Camaro SS from a ZL1 unless they are "enthusiasts" just like mistaking a Z06 for a Grand Sport. Add the ILE's to the mix and people won't even turn their head at a Camaro pretty soon. To us there are obvious differences but don't buy it for looks alone.

Do you want supercharger wine or the lifter tick of the 7.0L in the Z06?

The ZL1 is more comfortable in a lot of ways but I say drive em both. Go drive used ones so you can throttle them and you aren't beating up a new one before break-in.

Hell wait a few months and get a C7. You get darn near the HP of a C6 Z06 and a unique look.

Good luck with your choice either way. Both are great vehicles.

I wouldn't deal with a dealer like this who won't budge on price then all of a sudden will because you might not buy the higher priced vehicle.

If I were you I'd talk to BeckyD so you don't get screwed!

After all the helpful post here I have decided to get the ZL1.Just when I had by mind made up and called my dealer,he informs me that he is getting a 2014 ZL1 all black on order and it will be a couple grand more for the seats and could lock that one in for me.His 2013 has 45 miles on it and 2014 would have almost no miles on it.Just when I had my mind made I have to decide on this.
