ZL1 wheel well

Hey ZL1 owners, how many of you u guys can hear every little rock that hits your wheel well? It really annoys me that unless I'm driving on the freeway or perfectly clean "free of pebbles" streets, i can hear every pebble regardless of how small, hitting my wheel well and it sounds like it echoes. Is this a common theme for you other ZL1 OWNERS as well, or is this my OCD kicking in?

Between the exhaust, symphony of pistons, blower whine and tunes...can barely hear a siren!

I was surprised first drive down my blue-rock driveway how noisy the rocks were. A few weeks later, don't even notice them.

Sticky tires = more debris sling.

If you want less of that, swap some nice all seasons on for daily driving. The Conti DWS would have been my first recco, but they're discontinued. The Michelin PSS may be quieter than the Goodyears, too, though I do not know to what degree.

Also, get some flaps for behind the front wheel wells if you haven't already. Some of that stuff you're hearing is probably hitting your doors. :\

You're driving the wrong car, switch to a CTS-V

I hear it all the time. Have grown accustomed to it for the most part. When I first drove my SS home in January 2010 I almost had a heart attack from this. So I expected it to be worse with the ZL1. Living in PA the winter road cinders stay until mid-may on the back roads, so I try to avoid when possible. I have the splash guards to help keep the rock chips down on the gill area. Even the underneath of the mirrors take hits from the cinders being shot from the tires. The worst is around here they have been "oil and chipping" some of the roads instead of repaving them. It takes months for the surface to be compacted. I avoid these roads at all cost as it sound like I am media blasting the car. I even avoid them in my truck for 2 weeks as oncoming cars don't slow down and the rock chips nail the windshield and hood area . I will most likely switch tires to help with this once these are burned off.

If that really bothers you that much , get a few cans off plastic deep and cover the entire wheel well , put on several coats and it will cut down that anoying sound , but the OCD will still be there with you all the way down the freeway

I can't hear this over the exhaust....and I love it.

Otherwise just turn the radio up and chill out....

I would recommend pulling the inner fender wheels and covering the whole area with Dynamat. I did just about my whole car and man it really made a big difference!
