I was just curious about the 'solid' coupler's material and if it was designed with some sort of compliant material. Sure the tensioner would be able to adjust for a bit of 'rattle', but I just assume that if Eaton was concerned about it enough to design a coupler that would dampen/absorb some of it, it must be a concern for some reason.? |

I very good reason...noise....
Of course this is merely my opinion. But, I am a ME, and there is a plethora of people over driving, using a variety of solid couplers with different young's modulus, and yet the SC lives for thousands of miles. I kinda have this issue with paying $68.5K (well over 70k out the door) for a "camaro" that rattles like a beater. And i will admit, my friends poking fun at me does not help. Winter before last, I drove the car twice. One of my neighbors asked me if I was having engine trouble. I asked him why he would ask such a thing (even though I already knew), he informed me that he could hear the engine rattle driving down the street... |

I replaced mine with the warranty new supercharger in Dec of 2015. I am pretty sure mine has the solid isolator. It has been perfect ever since. So whatever they were replacing them with in late 2015 was working. Just an FYI

My '15 has a knocking that sounds a lot like an isolator so I'm wondering if mine has the solid or not.

I replaced my SC in 2014 and it had the new Solid Isolator, I have never had any issues or the noted slow idle vibrations. It now has 12k miles, 300 track laps on it still no noise from the Isolator..

Mid-2014 to 2015 builds had a solid isolator.

Details?
How many miles? Over driven by how much? Redline? Was he spraying Meth. Which solid coupler? How did it fail? As in which part of it gave up? |

Agree, not to be argumentative, but if e.g. was 30% overdriven spraying meth and the bearing went out that's so different than stock and rotors ate each other. It would be nice to know otherwise we can't figure out much from the example of that failure.
