Black Diamond paint

Was at a local high end car dealer last night and saw a Cadillac CTS-V with "Black Diamond" paint. Very cool! Never saw a factory paint job with this much metallic in it. C'mon, GM, give us more options for the Camaro!

Its a caddy and its a option on all Cadillac's I believe a 700 dollar one at that. But yes it has been said many times by many people on the forum the paint selection seems quite lacking in choices for the Camaro.

Isn't black diamond just carbon flash metallic with a different name?

It the same has white diamond. With white diamond a white base cost is sprayed first the the pearl coat is sprayed on. After the oven the clear coat is sprayed on. Black is just like the white but black is the base coat.
In the nineties one the engineers did that on a scape car.

I think a car with too much metallic in the paint can tend to appear "glittery" to women

Black diamond reminds me of having a freshly washed and waxed beautiful black car, and then blasting chalk dust on it before applying clear coat. Not for me, but to each their own. I'll always be a sucker for regular black with a fresh coat of wax.

They actually had carbon flash as an option prior to black diamond. My husband's 2011 CTS coupe is carbon flash, which is more of a cold/silver and smaller metallic finish. Black diamond has big metallic flake with a warmer/golden sheen.

EDIT: for fun...
