Camaro l99 exploitation, problems?
Hello, I became the owner of the Camaro 6.2 automat 2013, 66 thousand miles. What should i know Are there any problems that should be eliminated so that there is no unpleasantness. Thank you in advance for any tips?

Congrats on your new to you ride. Overall the cars are solid and you shouldn't have any issues. Keep an ear open for a loud lifting sound. On L99 cars lifter failure on the AFM/DOD lifters aren't uncommon, but not common enough for GM to stop installing them on cars. If a lifter does start to go you might as well do a cam swap and replace all of the lifters.

In the future I will want to disable the DoD program then I will not have to worry about failure? The second question I will also exchange collectors for long tube headers for this melody. Can I be afraid of a camshaft tensioner and oil pump failure after such a change?
I searched the forum but there is so much information that I don't know what to think about it. |

Disabling the dod is a good start but the lifters can still go bad with it disabled. They generally don't have issues till past 100k miles so I wouldn't worry to much about it. Adding long tube headers won't cause any issues if thats what you are asking. Oil pump failure generally happens in the first couple of thousand miles.

In my mind, if I turn off the DoD program and never turn it on again, there shouldn't be a complication?
Regarding long tube headers + program, I meant whether increasing power would not be a problematic relationship with the pump and timing tensioner which, as I read, bursts. Are these just the first years of production? |

I disabled my DoD and got 153,300 miles out of the stock AFM lifters. But I was always nervous about it. I always felt I was on borrowed time.
But I changed my oil religiously every 4,000 miles and didn't beat on the car too much. I am a believer that disabling the DOD/AFM does help because you are not constantly putting additional stress on the locking tabs. But as said above, I think it's inevitable that they will fail eventually. They are just a weak point in a strong engine. When I blew my L99 at the above stated mileage I disassembled the engine for inspection and was absolutely amazed at how clean it was inside. Barely any oil staining at all. I ran Mobil 1 5w30 EP and changed every 4k miles and truly believe the interval is why it was so clean. I am only stating this because I think keeping clean oil in this engine is so important to its longevity. The engine failure was entirely my fault btw.

I found such a thing. Is this a good choice? I'm not from America, that's why it gets a bit problematic. I thought disabling the program would solve the problem.
The purchase of accessories comes out counting American currency 1300 dollars = 5400 PLN plus shipping to my country. Earnings are very similar when it comes to pay for work. It's getting very interesting. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F163836005759 |

IMO the GM oil pump is of poor quality (mentioned above). If given the opportunity, switch to a better pump like Melling and change the timing chain tensioner to the dog bone, the lever type fail often.
