Hmm. Makes one think that a 6th gen Z/28 could still live on with an LS7 then too once it is released!!

That will be a cool car! LS7, 7 speed manual and creature comforts and probably rare.

This is interesting as my understanding was the emission cert on the engine expired in 2016.

Is the ATS-V+ confirmed by GM?
I don't see why GM would install the LS7 anyways. It only has 50 more horsepower compared to the twin-turbo 3.6 V6.
I'm not certain about this but I believe the V6 is lighter than the LS7 too (even with turbo plumbing/hardware).
The LS7 is an old design too....it's an early Gen IV engine (almost 10 years old).

Well if it's available for the ATS-V+ then it's also available for the Gen6 Z/28.

Is this confirmed or just a rumor? If true, that is great news especially if they up the hp.

I would be surprised to see a V8 in the ATS. The Germans are going away from them so I would expect to see another TTV6 of some kind if the ATS-V+ actually makes it to production.

I'm wondering where they would be making this engine. It was last produced at GM's Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI. Same place the LS9 and long nose LS3 was made. GM has closed this facility as it primarily supported C6 Corvette. This was a low volume hand build plant. Wonder where they would be making these LS7's. It's not a mass production engine.

I'd like to see how that engine will conform to the new CAFE standards, and as mentioned it's soon to be emissions expired. It would be a twelve year old motor by the time it got in to a 2017 model..

It's confirmed by motortrend. To be confirmed by gm. But the main thing is the z28 will not be the last car to have the ls7. So that rarity factor is gone

To me this is fantastic news, as I figured I'd never buy a forced-induction Gen6 Z/28. This is smart, from GM's standpoint, to give us older "die-hards" the option of an all-out track machine that's normally aspirated.

As to "rarity", I don't particularly care -- as long as the next Z/28 kicks the sh*t out of the GT350-R. If not, I may go Blue Oval on my next track car -- but I have faith in the team that has been knocking it out of the park as of late...
