I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be alive today if I had a 426hp car when i was 16. Incredibly reckless decision on the part of the parents .

^^Same here. But I don't wholly agree with that last part.

While there are gonna be haters calling the kid spoiled and 'rich kid' and whatnot, if I could afford to buy my kid his dream car (and if he deserved it) I would. His parents obviously love and trust him very much to do such a thing.

But then again, I don't have any kids, so I guess I might feel differently if I did. It would also depend on the kid. If he was mature and trustworthy enough I probably would, but if he acted like a dumbass like the kid in the other video then there would be no way in hell I'd get him anything like that.

I didn't get a V8, but I did get my V6 as a gift for graduating high school.

Pop's had told me all along he was going to buy me a new mustang for college if I kept my grades up.

Senior year I made sure the deal was still good, then "suggested" I rather have a Camaro....and then finished school with a 3.85 GPA.... to finally having it in the driveway.

I am very fortunate and are willing to admit it.

I got a trans am for my 16th birthday two months later it was totalled after smashing it into a telephone pole. I will never buy my kid a high performance car.

Dug this up from one of my post replies about a year ago:

Sure, there may be a FEW exceptional cases of teenagers who are emotionally mature, responsible, exercise good decision making abilities, don't cave to peer pressure, and realize that they AREN'T immortal....but those who have ALL of the above ALL of the time are VERY FEW and far between.

For the vast majority though, it's a recipe for disaster
