2010 camaro ss Single 76mm rear mount turbo

Uploaded some photos of my custom rear mount turbo setup. 76mm turbo. All 3" piping (called many performance shops and they all agreed that the size is perfectly fine because of the exhaust output of the LS3. Still have a few things to do. Also using a ZL1 fuel pump with 72lb injectors. Wastegate dump will be ran to the other exhaust outlet in the diffuser so its functional and not just a dummy pipe. Going for a safe 600rwhp. Should find out pretty soon.

Definitely curious about results. Nice to see people try different stuff. My only comment is from my extensive mechanical experience, there are better options than shoelaces to hold turbos in place....

I was expecting that comment haha. I was using them to hold the turbo in the correct position while I welded a hanger on to hold it permanently

Nah the rear mount decision just came from a preference to keep the turbo out of the engine bay which intern keeps it in a cooler area. Also its less of a pain in the butt when I decide to forge the motor. I wont have to remove my whole setup just to get the engine out. For maintenence also its a lot easier have the turbo in the back. Doesnt clutter up my engine bay

Ah. But you do realize that rear mounts have been famous for giving problems and being much laggier than traditional front or mid mounts...?

Yes sir and I will be making adjustments to help out with the lag.. for example, lighter internals in the turbo which makes it easier to spin freely and faster which allows it to spool faster. I will let you guys know from personal experience about the lag once I get the car tuned. So you can have evidence from a personal build and not a bolt on kit claiming to be "lag free"

Always use Speaker Wire never Shoelaces!!!

Pretty interesting setup and can't wait to see some videos of it running!

People talk about lag like with are driving 4 cylinders with no torque

Nice build!

How are you handling turbo oiling? What are you running for a scavenge pump?

Have a 1/8 oil line ran from the pressurized oil cooler elbow by the filter. Its ran all the way back to the turbo. The return is a 10an hose ran back to the scavenge pump (mounted under car, under passenger seat) then up to the oil fill neck. I got an older flat top oil cap and drilled a whole in it to place a hose fitting in and connected the return line. With the setup like that I had to relieve all crankcase pressure by removing the PCV system. Its an on3performance scavenge pump.
