Just picked mine up today from getting Xpel. Came out great! I have a seam on the top corner of the front bumper like most of you, and under the grill. They used the Xpel software and their own plotter to cut it. I knew where the seams would be. The top corner ones are the only ones you can find. The other is down so low and on an inside corner that it's hard to find. They wrapped edges were possible, so there are no hood seams. Did full hood, full front bumper, full fenders, mirrors, headlights, and the rockers. Very happy!

I think I was creeping on your car yesterday...did you have this done by Larry Millen?

Yep! I saw yours today when I picked mine up. I loved the red accents with the silver. Beautiful ride!

Thanks! I knew where to look for the seams on yours and they are practically invisible. Your ZL1 is a head turner. That red....

I did find out that he used the older plotter program that was designed for as little product waste as possible and ease of install. Unfortunately since that is the way this shop does it there is not much I can do. He did say he would remove the film off the front bumper and refund that portion. Going to take the car by the shop next week (weather here has been crap) and see what he will do about the bubbles and a couple places where the edges are starting to come up. If he fixes those issues I will walk away and have another shop fix it this winter. If he tells me to pound sand I will depute the whole charge through my credit card. Atleast now I know to ask more questions before having any paint protection done. This was a expensive lesson that is still not done. I hope fellow Camaro owners have read this and ask the right questions.

Here are my edges. Very well done in my opinion.

Full front and hood, rockers up the lower contour on the door, and behind the rear wheels to the back.

May I ask what that cost was? I'm hoping to pick mine up by the end of the month and I work right around the corner from him. Did you look at any other installers in the area?

Did you do any paint correction, polish, etc... before getting the xpel?

Hey guys, got a question for you regarding the Xpel on the mirrors. While I understand that the installer has to stretch the material on the mirrors, I think they missed bad on my passenger side mirror.

The edge seam is not parallel to the mirror trailing edge and the gap (from seam to mirror edge) ranges from 1/8" to almost 3/8" from the inside of the mirror to the outside. The rest of the car looks fantastic (minus the seam on the front clip - it was a '17 ZL1 Expel kit) but that mirror seam just looks wrong. Thoughts?

I can't picture what you're trying to say. But if you're unhappy with some aspect of it I'd recommend talking to them to see what they say. My shop gladly re-did one of my entire fenders because I thought the two seam pieces weren't straight. They also re-did the rockers to bring the film higher up the door and modified their templates based on the feedback.

My ZL 1E gets tapped next month on 14th. He wants 5-6 days to do car.
He will paint correct with polish any swirls after he sees it. That cost is 1400.00 bucks.
I am placing Sun Tek on front bumper, full front fenders, rocker panels, full side doors, rear quarter panels, front 1/3 of roof, pillars,, full rear quarter panels. Extra thick clear tape on headlights.
Then crystalline coat entire car, remove all wheels and crystalline coat wheels and calipers, then do Sun tea film on all windows. 5K for all tape and coating not including prep work if needed.
He does superb jobs, never a bubble anywhere ever. He does compound curves all the time and there is never a seam or bubble.
I guess that is why he gets what he does.
TDS car looks pretty good.
It really is all up to how anal the taper is and how meticulous he is. This guy won the country tape competition years ago in Las Vegas. Yes, I guess they have a tape competition.
He is Ryan Burroughs in Tampa. Auto Paint Guard.
Bottom line I would not want one bubble anywhere and seams are a pain in the ass when you detail the car.
Good luck to everyone and don't settle for less than what you expect. This is a lot of money to do this.
Personally, I have serious love bugs here in Florida and they can ruin a front bumper in several days so tape is a must here.
That and high speed road rash on the spoiler and bumper cause serious blemishes.
At the very least it is worth it to protect your car on the bumper and spoiler to prolong repainting.
My car will get maybe 5K miles a year with 4K of it at high speeds on the track and highways. It is not a daily driver.

Here are pics of some of the areas that I did for PPF. I did partial front fender. In one of the pics, you can barely see the line. The guys at Bespoke in Austin, TX do phenomenal work and they have great prices.

Top Work!

Full front, headlights, A-pillars, mirrors, rockers, and rear wheel areas fore and aft followed by Gtechniq crystal serum black and 2 coats of EXO on the whole car, including wheels (removed) and calipers. Stock film templates were manually extended in CAD so all edges were tucked. 3 piece for front grille/bumper/splitter/ducts/DRLs. Heat extractor badges removed and extractor removed for full wrap with no seams around the logos. A-pillars and top above the windshield were done with a single piece with all of the edges tucked to protect the paint down inside the gap between the body and glass. Hard to tell that this car has film on it at all.

Pete Barras does fantastic work.

Here's an Instagram video after the job was complete.

Progress photos...
