I have to agree with the OP. I've gone back and forth about the dark tail lights as well. I love them on every single color EXCEPT the 2 reds. I like them on red, but don't love them. If they have come standard, I would have left them in. But I don't want to pay extra on something I'm unsure about. HBM and KG I'd have bought them before the car even came in!

I had my stock reds tintcoated by a friend who runs a body shop here in town. I think it looks as good or even better than the GM darks. They don't have that weird clear look in certain light like the GMs do.
My car isn't red, but you get the idea...

There is a market for the clear ones so I'll save my red and swap them back on the next upgrade.

No clue what a tuner fad means and don't have a ZL1 but on Summit White these lights flow just fine on a SS or ZL1 IMO - |

I thought the same thing until I saw a red ss with them driving around town - they look way better in person.

Like you said, IMO. They look like the cheap eBay lights people used to buy for their Acura Integras, I have a Summit White ZL1, prefer the stock lights, IMO, they flow better to each their own, it is nice to see some others also don't find them all that appealing

Thanks for this photo. Regardless of which one each person prefers, it is very helpful to everyone. For myself I prefer the stock reds. Even in the photo the clears look like someone broke your tail lights. Definitely nice on a white, grey, or possibly black car. I like the blacked out tail lights on red...not so much the clear ones. If the red ones were solid red, then maybe I would go away from them, but with the white back up lights section, it makes them look better.

After seeing every other Camaro with the red lights and seeing the darks in person, they just look so badass! The black, gray, clear whatever matches all the black accent pieces as well as the black rims/tires. |
