My 47 willys jeep had a push button start but you had to insert a key and turn it before you pushed the button. It was rather primitive. I could do a push-button but it's not high on my list of priorities.
I kind of like my fob, though. I cut a piece of blue vinyl and put it over the key slot to keep it from getting all scratched up.

Yes the 6th gen should have a push button smart key, or whatever the latest technology dictates.

The theory should be it would stop working if this happens with a push-button start but as stated previously in this thread someone drove their parents Mercedes then handed the car over to their mom and she drove it while he still had the key. I was able to hack my GF's car so that it didn't "need" the key to start and play a prank on her years back.

For Remote Start, like we have on our Camaros now, we have to put the key in and turn it to move to drive (automatic).

I'm so glad I went back and re-read. I thought people here were actually talking about a push start car. All I could imagine is pushing the car and popping the clutch to get it started. I was wondering why the hell would anyone want that?????? Are these the same people bitching about missing sound deadner in the z/28????? Then I saw it...push "button" start. yes, I'm this much of a moron. Carry on.

I'm just old fashion i guess and probably a minority here but i'd rather have a key than a push start.

I have it in my BRZ and I like it. The fob has to be within 3 feet of a door or trunk to unlock and open them. To start the car, the fob actually has to be inside the vehicle. It's a neat little system. Although, it makes me giggle that my mother's 2013 Chrysler Town and Country has this as well.

A car I had to use while having my clutch replaced had the push start and I really liked the convenience.

I like having the key. I was walking to my car after school flipping the key out and putting it back in. A hall monitor yelled me over to her and took my key. She thought it was a knife. I had to explain to her it was a key, including showing her the buttons.

It would be sooooo nice to have this feature. I'm always digging in my pockets trying to find my key to unlock my doors, plus usually my arms are full. Also I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting to lock my car.

I changed my 2011 SS to push button start with proximity door locks and auto roll up windows and I love it.

I would like to do that to my 2013 SS, could you share how you did it?
