How much tube sand should you put in your trunk ??

I put 10% of curb weight(360 lbs., 6 bags of 60 lbs) in my trunk, so now I know what it's like to drive a 2-ton Cadillac CTS or a Camaro, I'm telling you this is awful ! I kid, I kid...But I usually have a 57/43 f/r weight distribution, since I added 10% to the back I should now have a 47/53 f/r weight distribution(corrected figure with added weight), so I'm like a Maserati Quattroporte or a Porsche 911. It feels like it rides a tad smoother though the steering is a touch lighter, looks like a put a lowering kit on it(the smallest of wheel gaps), so anyways... From what I've read this will help alot in snow, is this a good amount ?

Though it isn't "squatting" too extremely.

1 1/2 fingers gap for the back wheel gap. (used to be 2)

3 fingers gap for the front wheel gap.(used to be 2 1/2)

With all the electronics on a Gen5 you only need snowtires. Sand bags are a very old way to put weight but you don't need that anymore.

I have 200 pounds in the trunk of mine and I still can't get up the incline of my street. Even with a light dusting I still have to go in reverse when I exit my driveway onto my street to get a running start up the incline. I've had 2 other Camaros and 2 Firebirds and this car is the worst on the snow. Two days and I'm done. It's in the garage. lol

Well the Camaro is 52/48 to begin with, my G35 is 57/43. f/r weight dist. It's just the equivalent of having to average sized dudes sitting in the back seat, it's a sedan so that's like the whole purpose of it, so I would think it's just fine(though I realize I might be a little slower, use more gas, etc.; I am safer I guess you could say because of the weight, plus I have more even weight distribution and won't fishtail/spin out as easily).

Sounds like it's too much, if it is squatting that hard, I'd take some out. Like probably five of them, then if you get stuck, open up the last one and throw some under the tires.

Rear weight bias could cause oversteer (fishtail spinout)..especially when slippery. Added weight also decreases MPG a bit.

Sand belongs in the desert. NOT a Camaro.

Your steering/control is up front. Putting too much weight in back raises the front end of the car, reduces the friction on the front tires, and reduces steering AND braking power.

I have NEVER used sand bags in ANY of my vehicles and I live in Iowa. Drive like you're supposed to and you don't need them.

My snow tires rock, I drive up hills in 3-4 inches of snowy slush and have no issues......

I had all seasons last year and didn't like them much. I switched to the Snow and Ice tires and it is awesome.

My car is usually 57/43, f/r weight distribution. Too little weight in the back makes oversteer harder to control, like a Mustang or truck. If there is weight in the back and you slowly, but surely, go around a corner you have much more control. Like a pickup truck with an empty bed versus with weight in it. Also the weight in the back makes it more stable when going a steady speed in one direction, versus wildly fishtailing if you steer one direction slightly ?

My SS with Pzeros seems to get around fine in light snow. Being heavy pays off.
