I'm sure there are things that can be done to help but anything that turns a 7:41.27 at the ring isn't suffering to much!

Confucious say, "Man who whips RS4 vigorously, risk having his aRSe in sling..."

Discussion time....

I didn't want to stir the pot in the actual thread so I am bringing up in here. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how a EPS failure would completely prevent you from being able to turn the wheel. It's just a assist.... I don't get it. Any Ideas gent's?

It can't lock up your steering any more than a hydraulic assist can. Worst case is you lose power assist. Same as hydraulic.

So you are correct Shno. EPS is not steer by wire.

The electric racks are designed to operate without power. If there was a total failure it would involve a mechanical issue. To my knowledge the only drive by wire systems in use are the throttle controls. Brakes and steering are mechanical with vacuum, hydraulic or electric assist.

Perhaps the new #2 can speak with greater authority.

Posted on that thread. Big wide front wheels without power assist might feel like it locked up.

Hmmmm maybe they are just a little on the weak side..... I have driven Humvees that lost their power steering and I maneuvered them just fine.

The sky is falling!

The end of the world is near.

My power steering went out and I can't drive.

Is there a full moon out?

They'd have probably not been very good truck drivers back in the day.

And you have to realize that many of today's drivers have probably never driven a non power steering vehicle.
