Caliper Covers? Are they needed?

Waiting on new wheels to come in, was wondering do I need to order Caliper covers? Is it going to look odd without them? My wheels are flat black and the calipers on my car are the chrome looking!

Have you thought about painting your calipers or having them powdercoated? Painting would be cheaper than caliper covers. There's a few DIY threads around here with different methods and step by step instructions.

I also recommend painting your calipers. It's pretty easy, I did it to my '68. Only took a couple hours.

Brake calipers need to radiate heat from being used. Caliper covers are always a horrible (and cheesy) idea.

If you are going to paint your calipers...you need to use the G2 paint system

Mine are still the factory dark grey finish (Brembos). I don't really plan on doing anything different with them, but I do agree with what Tony said. Caliper covers just don't look very good on any car. I've had several buddies who have painted calipers that still hold the finish just fine and still look good. It's what most people do, but if you can afford it, the powdercoated finish will be much nicer. You'll have a long lasting durable finish that will look much better.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think for now Im going to leave them alone We will see when my wheels come in, If I decide to do it later Ill just have them painted!
