So, what exactly did you paint? J/K Thanks for the post, KJS. Good idea using a good grease cutting soap such as dish liquid. Looks far better IMO.

What's up C_C? No reason whatsoever for that to happen, if the surface is clean when painted. I'll definitely do that if I don't get the GMPP exhaust.

I've done this on my Vette 3 year ago...

Andro - Nothing flaked or pealed. Didn't scratch off as the paint gets better the more its heated.

TJ91 - Painted them with Rust-o-leum High Heat Bar-B-Que paint.

Kvapil28 - scroll the picture to the left then to the right. Left side was painted, right side was not.

Westvan - I'll put the pix of both mufflers on the thread tomorrow.

Bobby35NY - I've been using Eagle One Nanowax. Use a quarter size glob of Eagle One per quarter of the car - sometimes the less used the better, let haze and wipe with microfiber cloth. Amazingly there is almost no "white dust" from this stuff/
Then give it a light spray of Adams Detail Spray (adamspolishes.com), wipe with at microfiber cloth. The Adams makes it really "pop".

Been using this routine on my 15 year old Vette for about 3 years. ALWAYS getting complimented "has that just been painted?"

or you could get spray paint that is made for exhaust pipes/headers. such as VHT High heat paint. i just painted my headers/ypipe on my third gen and it looks great. its not a glossy black though its like a powered coated flat black.

all you have to do is rough up the surface, clean it, spay 3 coats on within an hour, run the car at idle for 20min, cool for 20, run for 30, cool for 20, and you are done.

That looks good! Maybe some high heat header paint would last good and long back there too.

I was thinking the same thing, I used some flat black header paint out of JEGS on my old 4th Gen headers and it lasted untill I sold the car.

Car looks great, Something I will do for sure.
