I had a blast at the fest despite problems with the car. However, the good news is that we did discover the basic issue we were having. It's a GM design flaw in the rear end of the 5th Gen Camaro. The geometry of the rear end just won't handle big power. The good news is the guys at IPS have figured out the solution to the problem. So, the next time we are out, we will have it resolved and we should be able to put the power to the ground. These things are all part of racing. I knew the guys at IPS could figure this out and they have. They are awesome!

The IPS team worked their butts off this weekend! I'm so thankful to the whole crew... Tom, Jared, Patrick (PTP Racing), Mark, and especially Stas. Also, thanks to Bob Williams who drove the car. We will be back and better than ever the next time we are out. I couldn't ask for a better group to work with.

I had a blast at the Fest meeting folks. It's always great to put names with faces. It was also fun to see old friends who I met at last year's Fest. It was a great event and I hope to be at the Fest next year too.

I haven't looked to see if I got anything worth posting yet. I'll try to look at the clips I took later today. But, I don't think I got much.

The Camaro5 facebook page has a video of your car, from Friday I think, DE. So happy for you that the driver didn't pack it into the wall. Kudos to him!

I am very fortunate to have him driving the car. Bob is not only a great driver, but also a great person.

We have figured out the GM design flaw in the rear end. The guys at IPS are awesome at evaluating these things. They'll get it fixed and we'll be ready to rock the next time out. It's all part of racing.

Robert taught me a great phrase when unforeseeable stuff like this happens..."racecar!"

If it was easy, everyone would do it and we'd all win every weekend. It will make winning feel all that much more satisfying when we do.

Exactly.

It's always amazing to me how many people don't understand that things can and will happen, especially the bigger the build gets. They immediately blame the builder or assume something wasn't done right.

Missed hanging with you guys at the fest, but hopefully you'll be down here next year.

All the guys with big power cars (like Russ) understand that. It's easy to get frustrated, but that doesn't help anything. So, we learn from what happened and make it better.

The problem we had was in NO WAY a fault of the builder. But, it was due to a rear end geometry designed by GM to handle 400 crank horsepower. We are putting something close to 2000 crank horsepower to the drive train and the rear end just won't handle it... even though we have the 9" rear end and heavy-duty axles.

This is why more 5th gens are not in the 8's. It is not a trivial task to do that. But, I'm really excited that the guys at IPS have figured out how to fix it and we will. So, I came away from this weekend feeling really good about our progress.

Watch out for us in Baytown next year! It's already on my calendar.

I missed you too, Russ. See you at the Fest next year.

Terri,

Amen on the frustration... It serves no purpose, it's there in the back of our minds, but in my case like I believe in yours, it's not directed at the builders, but at the inability to accomplish the goal we work so hard for... With you and I and lots of others, we work along side the builders and know the busted knuckles, sweat and care put into these cars... I think Corey hurts more than I do when something happens to Brandi...

Smaug will be fixed and omg... Hang on when she is...

Darth Emma's CGM 2SS/RS [COTW 10/11/10]

Terri there is no comparing your car to pretty much every build on this site. It's way above and beyond yet its making the races and breaking the records. The magnitude of going from a 9sec car to low 8's is exponential and most don't understand that. I echo what Robert said "that's racing". Was great to hang out with your team. Can't wait to see Smaug run again soon.
