MBRP or Corsa for LS3

I have finally narrowed it down between the 2. I like them both. Please give me your input on sound, quality of material, and fitment. I am not looking for a really loud exhaust just something that sounds good. I already have ARH 1 7/8" headers with high flow cats. I am also installing a cam next week as well. The MBRP in T304 stainless is cheaper than the Corsa. I beleive the Corsa is a 2 1/2" but the MBRP is 3" that nects down to 2 1/2" at the factory connection points.

Thanks

Ronnie

Hey Ronnie, both are great systems but sound totally different from each other. Both will be pretty aggressive with your long tube headers. If you're looking to tame the sound down some you can opt for the L99 auto versions of each system. They come with extra resonators in the mid pipe which will help keep the volume in check a bit. The MBRP will have a nice deep sound while the Corsa is more of a raspy sound......Don't forget to check out the Stainless works retro chambered catback too. Extremely popular system for this car.

Thanks for the info. I had the Corsa on my Vette but I think I want to try something different now.

I had the MBRP T304 with the X-pipe. Drone was bad under 2k rpm with headers & catless. (See sig mods) Very loud for me.

Replaced the X pipe with the L99 resonated H chamber and it is much better now. Also went full 3" by replacing the neck down point with Vibrant 3"x 9" race mufflers. (looks kinda like HFC's but straight through)

If you don't want it LOUD, buy the L99 system. If it's too quiet, I can sell you the X pipe. That is the only difference in the two catback systems per MBRP.

So you are saying that if I buy the L99 exhaust there wont be any drone? How does it compare to the LS3 in terms of sound? Also am I giving up any horsepower with the bottle neck where the 2 1/2" outlet on the cat meets the 2 1/2" outlet on the exhaust. I still want to keep cats I guess I can get the 3" X 3" cats from ARH but what do I do at the MBRP end. Do they make a 3" section or do I have to fab something up at a muffler shop?

Still some drone, but I think any 3" exhaust is going to have some. It's not noticable now above 1500 in 6th.
I'd say it's about 6 dB down in sound level, still louder than the stock system was with HFC's. It was too damn loud catless & headers & x-pipe even at cruise.

NA the 2.5" neck down really isn't an issue, prob not at my 600+ whp boosted either, it just annoyed me. lol.

Prob have to have something fabbed, I don't think MBRP makes a 3" system to mate with anything other than the stock connection points. I did mine myself with the Vibrants by cutting off the Kook's connecting pipes & the front of the MBRP system.

Fitment was spot on, although one of my rectangular tips for the GFX could have been made a bit cleaner.

I really appreciate your input on this. I having a cam installed next week maybe I should just here how it sounds with the stock cat back before I do anything. Im getting older and don't want things too loud. Been there done that with my C5 vette. LOL

I have zero drone with my L99 Corsa and love the sound! If you are ever in the Orlando area let me know, you can come listen to it.

Was there a major difference in sound between the x pipe and resonated h pipe? Which sounded better?

I have heard that Corsa is the only system that does not drone on our cars. I have MBRP and the drone is so bad, it will give you a headache. Have to go slower, faster, or downshift to get rid of it.

As for the sound though...you can't beat it!

Do you have the L99 version or the LS3 version? I heard the L99 version doesn't drone as much.

Thanks

Drone is controlled by the mufflers. As far as I know companies will use the same muffler on their LS3 or L99 system, the difference is usually the resonator which controls AFM, not drone. L99 = resonator, LS3 = No resonator.

For instant I have a Corsa L99 on my car. Recently I have had AFM taken care of so I am converting to an LS3 system. The only piece I need to swap out, is the XO pipe (the piece with the resonator).

I wound imagine the drone (or lack of it) would be the same on both systems. Keep in mind that drone is a very subjective sound. Some may step in a car and hear it and others may step in the same car and not hear it, or be bothered by it.
