If you're talking about tapered roller bearings, Timken all the way as long as they are the US made version. In the past 10 years Timken has started having some bearings made in Asia.

Koyo is all right but Timken is the undisputed ruler of tapered roller bearings.

I've been in the bearing business for over 30 years. I sell both.

Most Koyo bearings are made in Japan and some are made in America. Most Timken bearings are made in America and some are made in China.

Most "Asian" made bearings are NOT ok. Stick with Japanese and Korean. Chinese, Taiwanese, Singaporean and others are not good.

I've had a few builds with Koyo's that seemed ok, but my diff is all Timken now. For a minor difference in price in a component that takes so much torture in these cars I would do EVERYTHING you can to assure long life.

I've seen both. Depends on the bearing.

Yep. Many OEM manufacturers go with low bidder and a contract for a period of time. (Not necessarily lowest quality, but almost always lowest bidder in the quality category they are interested in.)

And then there are those OEMs who want the absolute cheapest crap they can buy so they can get their product out the door at the lowest price possible.

I sell to both types.

With AC Delco, how can you tell between China made or U.S. made items?

I don't think you can until it's in your hand and the box is labeled. And even then it may say made in USA but have foreign bearings.

You might be more likely to get USA made parts with the AC/Delco Professional line vs Advantage Line, but that is just speculation on my part.

I just checked the carrier and pinion AC Delco bearings I just got and they are all Koyo (the bearings themselves say Koyo, not the box).

the Richmond pack I got is at the shop with my differential, I put a call into them today they are to call me and tell me if the koyo are made in japan or usa. which takes the highest load on a rear end the carrier or the pinion? Danial, what do you think, I'm not a drag racer but, I might run down the track in the future, I mostly road hunt and run street tires as my buffer zone, not opposed to 40mph punches either ? the oldman...
