Nice! Do you think you can find out where the pitch-sensor for the Hill Assist is located?

I'm not one of the 18 fans, no.

I'm sure plenty of folks would appreciate a way to disable it if the answer could be found in those books somewhere. Pitch-sensor seems to be the strongest lead at the moment.

I figured that would come up. I will start looking into the manuals and see what I can find. I was also thinking if the angle tolerance could be set in the brake controller or ECM.

In my spare time (not much these days!) I have been reviewing the service manual index looking for information on the HSA. I have been through it twice and there is no direct mention of the HSA. The only lead that I have is the yaw sensor that is part of the TCS. It is mounted under the hood high on the passenger side. I am not sure if this sensor handles more than yaw (fishtailing) but the calibration steps want the vehicle on a level surface which may indicate it handles pitch output too. Might be a place to start looking.

I will start looking at the brake and TCS sections in more detail to see if the HSA shows up.

I found the HSA in the manual. It was listed in the ABS section for cars with F55 (ZL1 shocks option code). My post about the yaw sensor was correct. It is described as a multi-axis acceleration sensor which interfaces with the EBCM.
One thing that I did find is a note under the hill start assist section: "Note: The Hill start assist feature will not operate if the stability control is disabled." We should try to turn off the traction control/stabilitrak systems and see if the HSA is defeated.

By the way, I was wrong about the yaw sensor location. It can be found under the center console, not under the hood.

Thanks for that info. I wonder if anybody has tried it?

I created a new thread with a better title and a ZL1 tried it and it didn't work, but that is the only post so far! Here is the link
