1LE transmission fluid

Been trying to find a solid answer on which fluid to use. There are a lot of different answers that say to use ATF, some say not to. Is there something that someone can recommend?

I used a GM fluid. Worked great and reduced the second gear grind and made shifting a lot smoother. I also did the rear diff. Here is what I used.

I believe it tells you to use ATF in the owner's manual.

Any GM dealer can print you off a spec sheet on what fluids the car calls for. I have it in my glove box. I'll try to look for it once I'm home from work.

Changed my trans 2 days ago with Mobil 1 syn ATF. I also did my diff with Mobil 1 syn 75W-90 w/slip additive. The car is shifting much better now.

I don't track the car, I just use it as a daily driver so Mobil 1 is good enough for me. I would like to do a track day eventually and might consider switching to something better for that (like Redline).

It does, and ironically, it's also used in the manual box in the SS.

Weird that they call it that. LOL.

I remember i changed my transmission fluid with Mobi1, but i dont remember it said ATF. this was on my LS though, so it might be different for the SS.

V-6 cars use 75W-90 gear lube, not ATF.

I used Valvoline Maxlife ATF it's full synthetic with a bunch of additives. Been happy. Mobil 1 synthetic ATF is good too. The Redline synthetic ATF will work also.
