The chain broke because the cam is seized in the block. Now chasing the cause of that. This is a new one on me. EDIT: nope the cam was not seized in the block, thank goodness! only spring pressure keeping us from rotating it.

All these races were 50 or so rolling starts. I have heads, cam, and SC and his car pulls me I eventually over take him but most races are over quick and his car jumps and pull most by that time its over.. I can see this car having a huge advantage coming out of corners on a road course.. I can't believe there isn't some type of additive that can be added for the road courses and tracks for starving engine under hard Gs.. |

got the heads off and the cam was not stuck.............the journals were pretty scored and the lobes have a LOT of wear. 22k on the cam
so back to square one, what caused the chain to break? my WAG-1: cam lobes were going away and generated metal--> causing the cam to momentarily seize and break the chain WAG-2: the stock chain just couldn't handle the cam (222/242 .624/.625 116) and the springs (BRT .660) nothing exotic about the set up.......... a random occurrence perhaps?
