Purchasing a z
I will be flying out to take a look at a 2015 z/28. What are some areas of the car I should specifically look at? Car has 2000 miles. Read some concerns on the corvette forms about the ls7 oil change by filling up at the valve cover instead of the the dry sump, tank. Is there a fill cap there or have they change the cap design. Any input on this and any other information would be appreciated.

Yah, I think filling up the motor itself with 11 qts of oil is bad. Someone must have had a real brain fart to have done that. Its a "dry" sump motor for a reason. The sump has a fill cap.
Check the pads for burnishing procedure. Check driver and passenger seat for belt wear. Check OEM tires for shoulder cracking. Check splitter for damage on underside.

Yes I read they twisted the cap off the valve cover and the tabs break off inside the cover. Is the z/28 have the same cap or was it removed for 2014-15 model? Haven’t been able to find a z with the covers off to tell.

A Z06, ZL1, or Z28 is not a Z car. A "Z" is a Nissan/Datsun product. I reccomend the series one 240Z for maximum value.

The fill cap is on the dry sump tank. It's not to hard to figure out.

Check brakes and pads. If the rotors aren't smooth it's been tracked. If the pads have white residue they've been pounded. A small white layer is ok (but they have been bedded) an entirely discolored pad means it's been tracked with speed. Check paint for swirls - I found this car very hard to correct. Check in front of the rear front tires for paint damage. I checked the underside of the splitter to see if it's been scrapped. Listen to ls7 - it's a nosiey engine but loud ticking would be a concern. You can check the oil level but follow the oil procedure (think you gotta warm the car up and let it it for 1 - 5 min but I always check the documentation when checking oil). Diff will be noisy - it cracks and pops. That's normal. Tranny should be smooth. Might a touch notchy before it warms up. If you have a code scanner bring it to make sure the systems are up and a reset wasn't done just before you got there. If stock trofeos they may have cracks and they will be super worn. It's 5k mi street tire and I think most production trofeos would have been replaced by now so be aware of that. All I can think of. Hope it helps.

2000 miles is nothing. I doubt that the oil has been changed, they take twice the amount of oil as a normal engine. I doubt you'll find any significant wear, other than the splitter. It hits on all sorts of surfaces.

I got mine sight unseen with 3k miles and had it shipped to me. Only thing I looked at was the dealer photos of the paint and seat bolsters. At 2k miles I would be surprised if its even had the oil changed and you'd have to be wearing blinders to put the oil in the wrong place. The tank in the Camaro is right up front, its very obvious. Never heard of anyone here having it done improperly.

2000 miles is nothing? Factory oil that's been sitting in the sump for nearly 4 years would be anxiety inducing.

I had the oil changed in mine at 400 miles because the oil had been in there for a year and a half! I would hope the oil has been changed. I had it done under warranty.

Anxiety for who? Are you one of those guys that thinks refined oil turns into sulfuric acid after it sits for a few years?

Put a gallon of gas in a can and let it sit for 5 years. Do the same with a quart of motor oil. In 5 years the gasoline will be good enough for your lawn mower. In 5 years the oil will still be exactly the way it was refined. It will be mint and ready to go into whatever you want. It's a pretty durable fluid. Ask the collectors that have huge car collections. They start the cars a few times a year, and nothing more, other than some sta-bil in the tank.

I've been real reluctant to comment on this issue of the vehicle setting up for any length of time whether it is good or bad because who would listen to me right For you guys that think leaving any vehicle setting for a long period of time and just cranking it up once in awhile is not going to harm anyting you need to watch the latest video that race proven Motorsports put out S5 EP18 I trust what Francis says
