C6 Z06 - Just cuz I worked on it. Highlight of my career and all. Blah, blah, blah

ATS-V - Have to drive one, said I'd never go back to a small car......but could be tempting

CTS-V - Could fall into the C7 Z06 category. I'm suspecting it would be $80,000 and up.

Audi S6 - V8 AWD and I still do love me some Audi refinement. But right there with the CTS-V for price I'm guessing. S6 will run about $77,000 equipped the way I like :(

'14 Z/28 - If the $54,000 price point is really available, this is another way for Number 3 to own an LS7. And I have been quite open and honest about how I feel about the LS7.

Gen 6 Camaro - I'm holding my breath on this one. Chazcron's renders are truly awesome, but I'm not liking what I see. I know all of the details are missing and likely the highlights and low lights of the sheet metal aren't exact. But all I'm seeing is a Gen 5 that looks less "cartoonish" to me. The Gen5 is looking dated and now has the cartoonish look of a coupe that was built off a huge sedan architecture (which it was, actually). I saw a 1LE the other day that made my head spin a bit so it's still there, but the Gen 6, at least from the renders is only a smaller more tame version of the current car. The interior could swing me over the fence on this one.

So my only reservation on all of those is GM itself. On the two Audi's I've traded in (not sold privately) I was pretty much able to maintain my original down payment. With GM cars?? Will never happen. Because of GM's Walmart approach with their 20% off sale, I've pretty much lost my sizeable down payment on the SS. It seems for an addict like me, buying a GM car is a poor decision. Lease, keep forever, or go back to Audi. And as I just went off on FB about how 7 of the top 10 selling cars last year were foreign, that is a really tough choice for me.
Having not seen the sixth gen yet, the ATS-V would be the most tempting for me. Manual trans, magnetic ride, LF4-455HP, and it comes in Haha We'll Never Put This On A Camaro Blue.

Been reading a little about the upcoming GT350 and its looking to be pretty impressive. A direct competitor in both price and performance would make a great Z/28. One of the Mustang regulars on here said it was Ford's version of an LS7 1LE. If they can creatively build a high output affordable NA track car then GM can build one that will beat it. I would like to see more effort put into the motor than just using the LT1 as great as it is. Again, a V8 that revs past 8K is a pretty cool benchmark. Bringing back the 302 displacement but somehow surpassing the LT1 would be awesome. Leave out the CC brakes and just use the hopeful Alpha weight advantage to at least equal the performance of the fifth gen Z/28.

I would be surprised if the Z/28 isn't supercharged next generation. With the Z06 and ZR1 being consolidated, I bet the Z/28 and ZL1 will be too.

And that would be a shame. Some have suggested the 1LE may take a vacation this round and I would be fine with that if it kept the Z/28 NA. They have smart engineers that can also drive race cars that are totally capable of building a proper Z/28. They didn't let us down in the slightest this generation and came through just before he finish line with a legendary car that was pretty damn close to what we asked for. I see them doing it right again, just hoping we don't have as long a wait this go round.

The failure of the direct injected 427 should point towards another historic designation.

People seem to think the SS will perform well enough to negate the 1LE and I disagree. The base car will always leave performance on the table because most people want a soft, cushy ride and the 1LE doesn't have that.

I hope the Z/28 stays N/A but I just don't see GM developing a new, higher output naturally aspirated engine. The LT1 and LT4 are probably all we will get for the gen V small block.

I doubt they could make enough power from a 302 for the Z/28 to be competitive. I could see a high output 350 but not a 302. The LS6 was already 405 hp/tq without direct injection, CNC ported heads or tubular headers. Add those in and raise the redline to 7000 rpm and I bet you can make some serious power.

MRC can accommodate cushy ride and performance taught.

Today, the are 4 Chassis configurations in the Camaro, 5 if you count the V6 cars.

SS, 1LE, ZL1, Z/28

1 offers MR shocks
1 offers DSSV shocks

GM may elect to maintain all 4 but I can see 1LE and Z/28 being folded into 1 car. This is a lot of variation, but I also see GM having to at least match Ford with the GT, Track Pack, GT350 and GT500.

I think they are an engine short of maintaining the 4 for Gen 6. But as I've said, I hope there is a new variant in the works that fits in where the wonderful LS7 sits today. I think that engine could also benefit a Grand Sport Corvette.

Think of the Gen 5 without the LS7...............or think of a 1LE with the LS7, something many were hoping for.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out and I would bet that whenever the Gen 6 is introduced to the public...............these questions will not be answered.
