Water inside taillight

Hello, so today while out to shop I noticed the right side of my right taillight was out on my 2014 Camaro LS and I decided to go take a look at it. Turns out half the taillight is full of water... yes a bunch of water. I hadn’t noticed since I just drive my car to work and nothing else lately. I’m unsure on what to do right now, take it to a Chevy Dealer even if I got it used from some other dealers? Somehow drain the water out? Need completely new taillights?

Best solution I’ve heard was too drill a small hole or two on the bottom of the twilights. You won’t really see the wholes

Drill a very small hole in the bottom corner. There is a thread on this from a couple weeks ago. You can read more here https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=572938

I'd take the whole tailight out and find out where the water is coming in and then reseal it. It must be a fairly large hole or gap for that much water to seep in. If it's sonic welded and the plastic cracked or it can't be resealed for some reason, then I'd just look for a good new/used tailight.

Even with holes drilled into the bottom, it's probabaly not a good idea for water to be constantly entering through the tail light housing like that.

You can drill a small hole and let it dry completely then seal it back up with some clear sealer. It will be so small you will have to look for for it to see it.

I've tried to repair them in the past without any luck. Its very hard to find the breach because it can change with temperature. I even went as far as pressurizing them under water and couldn't find a thing but they still leaked water. The water vapor in the taillight ruins the reflective coating pretty quick too.

If a customer doesn’t want to replace the assembly because of cost etc....
I will smoke the assembly and then seal if possible with clear silicone

Make sure the bulb is seated correctly. I found some moisture and the bulb was not seated correctly in the tail light housing.

My wife just jokingly suggested putting silicon packets in there to keep it dry, which puts a pretty funny mental image in my mind of those rattling around while my cammed engine rumbles.

This is ‘blinker fluid.’ Replace when dry.
