First laps at COTA/Austin in Stevenson Camaro GS.R

This is an in-car video of the end of the first session at our COTA test with our Stevenson Motorsport Camaro GS.R. Car literally rolled off the trailer like this. We went a few seconds faster by the end of the day and made the car use the track a bit more efficiently. Regardless, the engineering and tech teams at Stevenson do a phenomenal job making a car that is within range of a win so early in a weekend.

This track is amazing. It's just busy enough to keep you interested without be obnoxious. The surface is pretty green still, but by the race in March I'm sure it'll have some seasoning.

Sorry about the poor quality. Edited quickly to post before the other drivers did. FIRST!

Enjoy.

Man, what an experience that must be. I plan to at least visit this track in the next year or so just to see it, and you're actually driving it. Thank god for Formula1 to bring a track like this to the USA. Thanks for sharing Matt!

How are turn 1 and the S curves in person?

Would love to get some track time at COTA. Love that long stretch after the almost 180 at turn 1. However being in NY it would take some doing. On a bright note I can go to Watkins Glen and a new track is being built just East of Syracuse that will be done in 2014. OH crap sorry. Good luck Stevenson, keep beating up on them Mustangs.

Nice video. That track reminds me of Circuit de Catalunya, which isn't really all that surprising.

Matt, what do the people at Stevenson think about the Grand-Am/ALMS merger? I know it doesn't really effect the Continental series much, but I'd imagine you all have some concerns about what will happen with Rolex GT. Good luck!

Mark at MVP has organized a track day for Feb 1 thru 3rd. Unfortunately, it filled up quickly. They are doing two Intermediate Groups and two Advanced groups. Lots of fast cars will be there as this will be the first opportunity for amateur hipo cars to get fast runs.

I was at COTA in October for the grand opening event with Mario Andretti. We brought our World Challenge Boss302R to represent Ford Racing and World Challenge at the event. They invited various cars from the different series that will be running there in 2013. We're there in May with the Australian V8 series. I had our driver take sponsors and guests out for hot laps in our car. I hitched a ride in the Gainsco Corvette Prototype for a hot lap (see picture of car). Wow. Running up hill at end of front straight and into a hard left turn will get your attention. Running 180 mph on the main straight will too.

The track is excellent and a great venue for spectators and racers alike.

That's a whole 6 months away, pretty sure we can get that done.

Need a big bull dozer to take out a couple big hills and we're good to go.
