Durango to be cancelled AGAIN

Durango is gonna die, again.

Will be replaced by a Jeep?

Why is chrysler doing this? Dodge wont have any SUV's or trucks anymore? Ram is its own brand now. Is Chrysler gonna kill off the Dodge name or what?

I dont get it.

The duango is basically an uglier grand cherokee. There's really no need for it.
They're turning dodge into the compact-sport-muscle car brand
Chrysler is the lux brand
Ram is the truck brand
Jeep is the suv brand
Sergio said that he want's no cross brand vehicles, that's why they're getting rid of the town and country van ect.

Bingo, Don't forget SRT will also be it's own brand for the extreme high performance cars and trucks.

It's a shame that it took an Italian to tell the Americans how to run a car company. It seems so bleeding obvious that car brands within a company shouldn't have competing segments.

I didn't understand where Dodge was heading but after Van Halen's explanation from Sergio totally makes sense. Dodge should focus on sportier muscle cars - excellent idea.

However, the most important segment is missing from that list: passenger cars.

And yet GM...

Cadillac and Buick..

Chevrolet and GMC..

Seem to recall the idea of them doing something similar being much discussed on the net back during restructuring:

GMC: Trucks
Cadillac: luxury
Pontiac/Buick/Opel/Holden: performance
Chevrolet: passenger cars
Corvette: own brand/supercar

Honestly I'd love to see them globalize The Holden.. And globalize based on the above since it could work..

Gas Prices are high.

Economy sucks (especially for larger cars).

Durango is horrible seller for them.

Nobody is buying an suv that gets 15 mpg.
Chrysler has to meet 35 MPG CAFE by 2016. Government regulation is killing Durango. Remember this in November.
Durango sales are bad

Love my Denali that gets like maybe 14mpg! With the Durango gone Mopar will not have a full size SUV All of the Jeeps sit five, there was the Commander but thats gone. I plan on buying the next generation of Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade. I hope GM does not turn them into some sissy, 40mpg crossover garbage.

I guess I should say a few people are buying 15 mpg suv's. Glad you like yours but full size suv's are fading away. You can thank the government.
