2012 camaro ss oil filter
I was browsing at oil filter choices and got a bit curious, saw that the car used a pf48 filter but it's so "tiny". I saw that the pf63 looked more suitable for the job. my question is would a pf63 work instead of a pf 48 oil filter?

I’m of the opinion that if the engineers felt a larger filter is needed, they’d have gone with one.

I remember watching a video on YouTube of a guy changing the oil on his 5th gen SS,.... and he mentioned and showed himself installing a larger oil filter for a little more capacity. Do a search on YouTube and see if you can find it. I remember his SS was a a 2010 - 2013. Hope that helps.

PF48 has been discontinued for the PF48e. Don't use any "e" filter. Plastic internals. I use Wix XP57060 and it is more than up for the job despite the small size. |

There's nothing wrong with the plastic internals. In fact, the new design has more filter area as a result. |

i say that because a TSB came out last February warning techs the newer gmc acadia required the "new pf63" instead of the pf48 |

I was watching these filter videos yesterday
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKc...sj1U6RkGRBzPAA One of the better reviews on oil filters. Avoid filters with cardboard parts like the cheap Frams. They can come off and ruin your engine. Other than that I'm not sure it makes a huge difference on the premium choices. Purolater Boss might be one of the best. I got some Wix XPs and Bosch's on sale this week on Amazon and looks like they are good enough. |

OP, Currently using a K&N for the Camaro, may switch to Amsoil. Check length before using a different filter.

Still using the AC Delco filters, PF48E, no issues.
