V6 Camaro vs V6 Accord

Who do you guys think will win? I will be driving the Accord.... We are going to the track, probably, February 10.

We are going to this track....

2005 Accord coupe v6 6-speed

CAI
Custom J pipe(downpipe) w/main cat delete
3 inch exhaust split off into 2.5 inch duals
Check valve delete mod(for quicker clutch engagement, shifts, etc)
Exhaust cutout
Manual w/ 3.29's

243 whp/209 lb ft to the wheels, but untuned.

What do you guys think ? I don't know about getting the Accord off the line, but once it gets into higher rpm it moves pretty good. I think it will be close ? 60 foot, 1/8 mile I think he will win... then again anything can happen!

P.S. This is only semi-officially confirmed, keep you up to date. Please no hate or anything, just looking to have some fun times at the track!

I think these are the stats for a stock Accord
0-60 mph : 5.9 sec
¼ mile : 14.5 sec @ 98.0 mph

I think the stats for a Camaro are about the same. So based on your mods, I think you should win by a little.

I'm guessing it comes down to the driver, but car wise, I give a very small advantage to the Camaro.

I think the camaro but not by much (if we are talking numbers), he has some serious mods with a decent tune. If we look at what some of those mods are getting it can tell us a lot-
MACE Plenum Spacer + RX 3/8" Intake Manifold Spacer These are two mods that add a good amount of power. I believe it is 20rwhp?
ADM Race Scoop
K&N Aircharger
Trifecta Tune.
American Racing Headers LT w/HFC
ARK DT-S
Auto w/ 3.27's

If he is running these then the LLT should be nearly pushing 350hp (non ricer math) at the crank. The tune is the one thing that is putting it all together.

If it is an auto with a 15-20% loss then we are looking at around 280 rwhp to the wheels. And if he is smart his tune includes the increased shifting times.
(weight to power ratio :10.28)
if you are getting 243 to the wheels it will be close. You are getting 280 to the crank with a weight of 3100 lbs
(weight to power ratio: 11.07)

But the only factor remaining is driver error, that changes everything! So just race him and let us know!

I don't know what these accords do compared to the newer ones but last weekend I was at the track, I had one beat my friend. My friend owns a 2011 camaro ls as well but only has an airaid cai and a custom exhaust. It was a really close race, it was decided in the reaction time but the accord was completely stock and spun forever. It still surprised me.

Idk I have pulled on v6 camaro manual pretty good from a roll....but this is a dig at the track. Takes out a lot of variables.

Last time I was there I ran DA corrected 14.4 @ 100 mph(14.9 @ 97 with 2.6 60 foot, wheelhop was the main culprit; DA was 3200).... The Honda had short ram intake, 2.5 inch catback exhaust at the time. This was before check valve delete, cold air intake, custom J pipe, 3 inch exhaust.

The V6 Camaros aren't as good from rolls than they are from a dig, a big part of that is gearing.

It will be close and either car could win. If I was betting though, I'd put money on the camaro. RWD Auto vs FWD 6MT, you have 10x the work cut out for you.

If he can launch the camaro well, he's gonna get you. But if he spins, you have a very good chance. What I noticed and don't know if it was because something was wrong with my friends camaro or not but the accord he raced on 4 different occasions kept trapping higher. My friends ls traps about 94 mph while the accord consistently trapped 98.

Yeah times just vary so widely due to DA, track prep, location, etc. Insideline got 14.8 @ 94 mph for their V6 auto LLT ? But that is the slowest time I have seen for a V6 5th gen, so I kind of disregarded it. The 8th gen 2008+ accord v6's only weigh about 100 lbs(3290 vs 3390) more then 03-07 v6 accord manual but have about 20-30 more whp and shorter gearing.

Yeah, especially wheelhop off the line. I have figured out a technique for "pre-loading" the car. Pull E brake, Raise rpm slightly and let off clutch slightly so the car feels like it wants to go forward.... Then simultaneously drop the E brake and clutch, and feather the throttle. If I go WOT then it wheelhops and just spins. PITA to get off the line. It has open diff too.

Actually, I now have a Cold Air Inductions Intake and a RX Ported Throttle Body. If I put all the stickers I have from various companies on I should be able to put down 500+ rwhp.

Just have to make sure you are on the correct side for the GoPro camera to catch you. Mostly will be racing my wife though since we should have her Lower Control Arms by then and she wants to switch cars to see if I can get a correct launch on hers.

I hope you guys do get to go. I'd put my 3 bucks on the Camaro. Mostly due to the auto, quite frankly.

Hey guys! Bolt on AP1 S2000 is coming too.... He has cai, test pipe, Invidia Q300 exhaust, and 4.77 gears!

Maybe we could get some footage that race too!
